\u201cDeadliest Catch\u201d star Todd Meadows\u2019 death<\/a> was explored in the Season 22 finale, months after he tragically fell overboard<\/a> while filming the reality series.<\/p>\n

On Friday\u2019s episode of the Discovery Channel series, producers showed the before and after of the 25-year-old\u2019s fatal fall while working aboard the Aleutian Lady in Alaskan waters of the Bering Sea on Feb. 25.<\/p>\n

While showrunners shied away from showing the actual accident, they gave viewers the perspective of Captain Rick Shelford and the ship\u2019s crew.<\/p>\n

Before rolling the episode, a message warning \u201cmaterial may be disturbing to some viewers\u201d appeared on the screen.<\/p>\n

Meadows then appeared on-screen in a confessional interview as he prepared food shortly before his death, telling the cameras, \u201cIt\u2019s been a rough season, from what I\u2019ve heard it\u2019s been one of the rougher seasons for the boat.\u201d<\/p>\n

When a producer asked the TV personality whether he would return to the boat later if allowed to go home, he responded, \u201cAbsolutely.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been one of my dreams and goals to make it up here,\u201d Meadows continued. \u201cThat\u2019s why I\u2019m up here to make it and to try to support my family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meadows was seen in the episode preparing food and delivering what would become his final on-camera interview with producers, as seen above, discussing the \u201crough season\u201d and that he\u2019d \u201cabsolutely\u201d return to the boat. Discovery<\/p>\n

Meadows told producers about his three children \u2014 aged 1, 2 and 4 at the time \u2014 saying that it was a \u201cheart-wrencher\u201d because the youngest don\u2019t understand his absence.<\/p>\n

Producers then showed Meadows on a FaceTime call with his family, promising his son to go on a salmon fishing trip upon his return home.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope you\u2019re being safe,\u201d Meadows\u2019 daughter says. \u201cIf you\u2019re not being safe you better be safe.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cOh I\u2019m being safe,\u201d he replied.<\/p>\n

The cameras then cut to Shelford asking the crew, \u201cEverybody OK?\u201d after hearing screams. <\/p>\n

\u201cNo,\u201d the crew responded, explaining there was a man overboard, to which Shelford immediately turned the boat around and ordered the team to be ready to pull Meadows out of the water.<\/p>\n

The cameras stayed in the control center, as the captain ordered the crew to pull Meadows up and perform CPR<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cCome on, man, come on,\u201d Shelford said off camera before calling the Coast Guard. Shelford broke down in tears as a producer told him, \u201cHe\u2019s gone, Rick.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOn February 25th, 2026, deckhand Todd Meadows went overboard. After six minutes and twenty-six seconds in the water, he was recovered unresponsive,\u201d a message on the screen read.<\/p>\n

Shelford announced Meadows\u2019 passing <\/a>via a heartbreaking Facebook post, stating that it was the \u201cmost tragic day in the history of the Aleutian Lady on the Bering Sea.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTodd was the newest member of our crew, he quickly became family. His love for fishing and his strong work ethic earned everyone\u2019s respect right away,\u201d\u00a0he wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cDeadliest Catch\u201d cast member Trey John Green III, a fellow deckhand, told Page Six exclusively<\/a> in March that the notoriously treacherous water was actually \u201ccalm\u201d the day of Meadows\u2019 accident, despite the water being \u201conly a degree or two above freezing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Green emphasized that Meadows was \u201cin the right place at the right time\u201d and \u201cdoing exactly what he was supposed to be doing\u201d when the accident occurred.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s one of those things that none of us really understand. I don\u2019t know what happened,\u201d Green explained.<\/p>\n

Meadows\u2019 mom previously begged Discovery <\/a>not to profit off her son\u2019s death by showing the footage and, as of April, the family was planning to launch a wrongful death lawsuit<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It remains to be seen if they have moved ahead with such plans.<\/p>\n

A GoFundMe<\/a>, originally launched in April on behalf of Meadows\u2019 mother, has recently picked up traction again and seen donations come in after the chilling episode.<\/p>\n
