\n\tIt might\u2019ve been all about \u201cResident Evil<\/a>\u201d at the box office last week, but \u201cAvengers: Endgame\u201d is back on top \u2014 seven years later.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAvengers: Endgame Encore<\/a>\u201d landed at No. 1 on Friday, making $11.2 million from 3,060 North American screens. By Sunday, the Marvel juggernaut should pull in around $26 million. <\/p>\n

\n\tDirected by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, the 2019 superhero film\u2019s re-release comes ahead of the hotly anticipated \u201cAvengers: Doomsday,\u201d set to open in theaters December 18. At the time of its release, \u201cAvengers: Endgame\u201d became the second-highest-grossing movie in box office history, with $2.799 billion worldwide. (2009\u2019s \u201cAvatar\u201d currently holds the record with a $2.9 billion worldwide gross).<\/p>\n

\n\tA24\u2019s highly anticipated \u201cPrimetime<\/a>\u201d took second place with $8.49 million from 2,874 locations. Rival estimates have the drama-thriller bringing in $20.5 million through the weekend. <\/p>\n

\n\tStarring Robert Pattinson, \u201cPrimetime\u201d chronicles Chris Hansen\u2019s time as the host of Dateline NBC\u2019s \u201cTo Catch a Predator.\u201d While the film has received positive reviews and word of mouth since its debut at the Venice Film Festival earlier this month, the real-life Hansen has been less than complimentary<\/a> ahead of the film\u2019s release. After seeing the film, Hansen called it \u201cso bizarre and so in-and-out of reality,\u201d as well as \u201cdetached from reality.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFellow newcomer \u201cThe Heart of the Beast\u201d earned an estimated $7.45 million on Friday from 3,435 domestic locations, coming in third place at the domestic box office. The Brad Pitt-led adventure film was directed by David Ayer and stars the actor as a retired veteran who navigates a 58-mile trek to safety after he and his combat dog survive a plane crash in the Alaskan wilderness. The Paramount Pictures film is expected to gross $20 million domestically in its opening weekend.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cResident Evil\u201d dropped to fourth place with $6.9 million across 3,684 locations. Based on Capcom\u2019s popular horror video games, the Zach Cregger-directed film stars Austin Abrams as a medical courier who must contend with a zombie outbreak while making a delivery to Raccoon City General Hospital. \u201cResident Evil\u201d earned a franchise-best debut last weekend with a cumulative $61 million, and should bring in another $23.5 million through its second weekend in theaters.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cForgotten Island\u201d didn\u2019t land quite as high as the other new releases at the box office, bringing in $4.38 million from 3,548 screens. By Sunday, Universal and DreamWorks Animation\u2019s film should pull in a cumulative $11.5 million. <\/p>\n
