Knicks guard Miles McBride<\/a> is entering the final season of his contract, which will pay him a little under $4MM in 2026\/27. He\u2019s also eligible for an extension, but it sounds like those talks haven\u2019t gone the way he hoped.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love being in New York. Obviously, I\u2019ve been here my whole career,\u201d McBride told the Kristian Winfield of The New York Daily News<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m a little \u2014 I\u2019m a little disappointed. Of course, you want to obviously come to the right terms, and I want to be in New York. So yeah, it\u2019s a little hard at times, but I\u2019m gonna be a professional. I want to go out and do my job. So that\u2019s in my ability, and to help the team win for as long as I\u2019m with the team.\u201d<\/p>\n

McBride is entering his sixth season with the Knicks after being selected 36th overall in the 2021 draft. He averaged 12.0 points, 2.6 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 0.9 steals while shooting 41.3% from three-point range in 41 regular season games last season, having missed several weeks due to sports hernia surgery. The 26-year-old also appeared in all 19 of New York\u2019s playoff games.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot just Quick [Immanuel Quickley<\/a>], but in the NBA, you see it all the time with [contract disputes leading to trades], and you just have to be a professional. You can\u2019t worry about those things,\u201d McBride said. \u201cI hope we come to some type of agreement. I\u2019ve played through injury. I\u2019ve been through a lot with this team, and I\u2019ve worked my way into being a key guy. So you know, I\u2019d love to get something done.\u201d<\/p>\n

McBride, who is considered a strong trade candidate<\/a> if he isn\u2019t extended, indicated to Winfield that he believes he has untapped upside, noting that players are sometimes boxed into specific roles due to the composition of their team\u2019s roster.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like in times where guys have been out, I\u2019ve been able to show a lot,\u201d McBride said. \u201cSo it\u2019s always \u2014 to me \u2014 it\u2019s about opportunity. I feel like I\u2019ve continued to grow and improve every single year.\u201d<\/p>\n

McBride will remain extension-eligible through June 30, 2027.
