Reba McEntire revealed she missed a call from Dolly Parton and was unable to reconnect before the county music icon\u2019s death<\/a> about a month later.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe did call me the last of July, and I was in a meeting and I missed her call,\u201d the \u201cFancy\u201d singer told Entertainment Tonight<\/a> in an interview shared Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI tried to get back in touch with her, and I couldn\u2019t. Never made connection,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n

McEntire, 71, then noted that when she got word that \u201cDolly\u2019s gone\u201d on Aug. 25, she thought, \u201cI\u2019ll never know why she called me.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, she remains hopeful that she\u2019ll \u201cfind out one day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, McEntire honored Parton at the Emmy Awards<\/a> with a performance of the late singer\u2019s song \u201cAppalachian Memories.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cNight the Lights Went Out in Georgia\u201d singer wore a sparkling white dress as she delivered a stirring rendition of the emotional song with the backing of a live symphony.<\/p>\n

Following Parton\u2019s death last month at the age of 80, McEntire took to social media to share a tribute<\/a> for her fellow country music star and longtime friend.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I just got the news that my buddy Dolly passed onto the higher and greater side,\u201d she wrote at the time. \u201cDolly, thank you for all the wonderful things you did for us here on earth.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYour love, your music and you gave so much with your huge huge heart,\u201d she added. \u201cThere will never ever be another you. We will remember and cherish every memory and every note you ever played and sang.\u201d<\/p>\n

McEntire went on to say Parton was \u201cgonna have a blast in heaven singing all her favorite songs with all her family and friends who have gone on before her,\u201d and that she\u2019ll \u201cnever forget\u201d the first time they met or their last conversation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hold it with love in my heart,\u201d she said of those memories.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in her Entertainment Tonight interview, McEntire called the last time she was able to speak with Parton \u201creally special\u201d and she \u201cdidn\u2019t want to let her go\u201d despite knowing she was busy.<\/p>\n

Parton\u2019s cause of death was confirmed<\/a> the same day she died, as her representatives announced she had been secretly battling cancer.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter bravely facing a brief battle with cancer, Dolly departed her Earthly life today at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center surrounded by loved ones,\u201d her reps confirmed in a statement to Page Six Tuesday, without elaborating on the kind of cancer.<\/p>\n

Days later, Parton\u2019s loved ones gathered at a Nashville burial site<\/a> and the \u201cJolene\u201d singer was laid to rest<\/a> at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum next to late husband Carl Dean<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dean died<\/a> in March 2025 at the age of 82.<\/p>\n

Parton\u2019s sisters, Freida and Stella, has cryptically addressed<\/a> online rumors of a family feud<\/a> after the \u201c9 to 5\u201d singer\u2019s death, as Parton\u2019s nephew and head of security, Bryan Seaver, was fired<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The later Grammy winner\u2019s longtime manager, Danny Nozell, has filed a lawsuit against Seaver<\/a>, alleging he tried to extort money and made deadly threats, but insiders tell Page Six they fear Nozell just \u201cwants the family out of the picture.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n
