Kneecap<\/a> and Tom Morello<\/a> have shared their huge, Rage Against The Machine<\/a>-coded collaboration \u2018Unconquered\u2019 \u2013 listen below.<\/p>\n

The track appears on the Rage and Audioslave<\/a> guitarist\u2019s new solo album \u2018Everyone Gets Everything They Want\u2019, which arrived on Friday (September 25) via Mom + Pop.<\/p>\n

\u2018Unconquered\u2019 brings together Morello\u2019s trademark serrated guitar work with frantic electronic percussion and rapid-fire verses from Mo Chara and M\u00f3gla\u00ed Bap, delivered in both Irish and English.<\/p>\n

The combination lands firmly in the territory that first made Morello famous, fusing hip-hop, hard rock and electronic textures before breaking into a characteristically warped guitar solo.<\/p>\n

Speaking to <\/a>NME<\/a> ahead of the album\u2019s release<\/a>, Morello said \u2018Unconquered\u2019 was intended to capture an enduring spirit of opposition in the face of repression.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat song is about the unconquered spirit \u2013 from college campuses to refugee camps to concert stages from Dublin to Detroit,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe ember that does not go out, no matter how great the repression, state violence and state terror directed against people or artists. As long as there\u2019s breath in our lungs and electricity in our Marshall stacks, that spirit will remain unconquered.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cWith this song, the idea was to make one guitar sound like an entire revolution.\u201d<\/p>\n

Morello has long expressed admiration for the Belfast trio, previously describing Kneecap as \u201cclearly the Rage Against The Machine of now\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Explaining to NME how the collaboration came together, he said: \u201cI\u2019ve been a fan since their inception. I saw the <\/a>Kneecap<\/a> movie<\/a> long before any of the political controversy and thought, \u2018What a great fucking group\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fact that a group so fearlessly aligns with the world\u2019s oppressed as part of who they are as a band is something that\u2019s near and dear to my heart,\u201d he continued. \u201cI see a kinship with Kneecap.\u201d<\/p>\n

Morello said he gave the trio three requirements when he approached them about making the song.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I first reached out, I said there\u2019s only three criteria for this song,\u201d he explained. \u201cOne: it\u2019s got to be called \u2018Unconquered\u2019. Two: it\u2019s got to have a devastating hook. And three, it\u2019s got to rock a festival like crazy!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe checked all three of those boxes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Everyone Gets Everything They Want\u2019 is Morello\u2019s first solo rock album and his 22nd record overall. It also features collaborations with System Of A Down<\/a> frontman Serj Tankian<\/a>, Beartooth<\/a> and Morello\u2019s 15-year-old son Roman, who contributed riffs to five of its tracks.<\/p>\n

Morello told NME that the record was shaped by what he described as the growing \u201cspectre of authoritarianism\u201d around the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn this hour, rebellion is an act of self-care and rock \u2018n\u2019 roll is an act of self-defence,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Everyone Gets Everything They Want\u2019 is music made out of total necessity. It\u2019s my first solo rock album, my 22nd album in my career and it\u2019s a record for everyone who\u2019s had enough.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kneecap, meanwhile, released their second album \u2018Fenian\u2019<\/a> in May.\u00a0NME<\/a> awarded the record four-and-a-half stars<\/a>, describing it as \u201ca solid, progressive and fearless album\u201d that saw the trio \u201creach power and maturity\u201d.<\/p>\n
