Comedian Amelia Dimoldenberg mocked Ed Sheeran as a \u201cworld-famous red-headed puppet\u201d after the hitmaker\u2019s \u201cFree Palestine\u201d controversy with Macklemore.<\/p>\n

SNL UK<\/p>\n An image of Dimoldenberg and Sheeran, 35, in a 2021 interview from her YouTube \u201cdating\u201d series then appeared on the screen.<\/p>\n Dimoldenberg, 32, stayed quiet as the audience cheered.<\/p>\n A rep for the \u201cThinking Out Loud\u201d crooner wasn\u2019t immediately available to Page Six for comment.<\/p>\n In Dimoldenberg\u2019s viral show, she conducts interviews, known as \u201cdates,\u201d with celebrities at fried chicken fast food restaurants throughout London.<\/p>\n The talk show host launched her series in 2014 in a bid to find love and learn how to date. However, Dimoldenberg recently announced the end of her series, with the final series premiering on Oct. 2.<\/p>\n \u201cNo, the other one,\u201d she quipped as a photo of herself and Sheeran then popped up on the screen. Lone Pine Press for NY Post<\/p>\n Dimoldenberg, meanwhile, chimed in on the Sheeran and Macklemore, 43, controversy after the \u201cThrift Shop\u201d rapper announced he was dropped as an opener for the remainder of the singer\u2019s Loop Tour<\/a> following his pro-Palestine speech\u00a0at the MetLife Stadium show in New Jersey.<\/p>\n \u201cI wanted to stand up here on stages across America and say two words that are near and dear to my heart: Free Palestine,\u201d\u00a0the hitmaker said at the concert.<\/p>\n Shortly after, Macklemore took to Instagram to share that Sheeran and his team \u201cmade the decision to remove [him]\u201d<\/a> from the tour.<\/p>\n \u201cBut before I get into it, I want to say something that should be obvious,\u201d he wrote. \u201cIn this moment I think it matters. I am not a victim. Ed Sheeran is not a victim \u2026 We have careers, money, opportunities, safety and audiences around the world. Whatever consequences any of us face for what we say, we get to go home to our families.\u201d<\/p>\n Earlier this month, Macklemore (seen performing above in June) was dropped as an opener from Sheeran\u2019s Loop Tour after his pro-Palestine speech. Redferns<\/p>\n The rapper (seen performing above) claimed Sheeran and his team \u201cmade the decision to remove [him]\u201d from the tour. Alec Gearty<\/p>\n Macklemore, born Benjamin Haggerty, explained that the \u201cvictims are the Palestinian people \u2026 who have been killed, starved, displaced and forced to live through unimaginable violence.\u201d<\/p>\n As for Sheeran, his additional openers, including Finneas, Lukas Graham, Aaron Rowe and Beoga, later announced they were dropping from the tour<\/a> in solidarity.<\/p>\n Sheeran addressed the rift via Instagram, claiming his shows were threatened to be pulled from several venues if Macklemore wasn\u2019t fired from the tour.<\/p>\n \u201cI spoke with the venues at length all week to try and build a bridge,\u201d the \u201cPerfect\u201d singer said, adding that he tried to \u201cfind a mutual resolution for all, but the venue\u2019s and promoter\u2019s decision was final.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMacklemore coming off tour was the promoter\u2019s decision, it was not mine,\u201d he continued. \u201cMacklemore\u2019s contract for the tour was with the promoter, not me. I would never let down the fans who had made plans, nor would I abandon the touring crew and the other support acts and musicians who rely on me for work and to make a living.\u201d<\/p>\n Sheeran (seen performing above) addressed the controversy via Instagram.
