{"id":863199,"date":"2026-09-28T05:40:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-28T05:40:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/863199\/"},"modified":"2026-09-28T05:40:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-28T05:40:09","slug":"matt-rempe-to-make-rangers-roster-after-hard-fought-preseason","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/863199\/","title":{"rendered":"Matt Rempe to make Rangers&#8217; roster after hard-fought preseason"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After entering training camp on the bubble, Matt Rempe \u2014 the 6-foot-9 forward known for his crushing hits and fights \u2014 found a way to stick on the Rangers\u2019 opening night roster.<\/p>\n<p>That became clear Sunday when the Rangers <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/09\/27\/sports\/rangers-make-risky-move-with-dylan-garand-after-backup-goalie-decision\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">placed Taylor Raddysh on waivers<\/a>, clearing the way for Rempe (who isn\u2019t waiver-exempt) and Jaroslav Chmelar (who is) to make the initial 23-man group that\u2019ll break training camp and head to Boston for Tuesday\u2019s opener. <\/p>\n<p>Rempe, who was limited to just 26 games last season after <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/20\/sports\/rangers-matt-rempe-heading-to-ir-for-another-thumb-procedure\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">undergoing a pair of procedures<\/a> on his left thumb, knew he entered training camp with a lot to prove to the coaching staff. He didn\u2019t log the first reps with the fourth line initially. He strung together 14 hits, a pair of assists and two blocked shots during his three preseason appearances. <\/p>\n<p>Friday against the Islanders, when the Rangers treated it like a dress rehearsal, Rempe \u2014 who has logged 96 games across the regular season and playoffs, picking up 12 points and 10 fights \u2014 skated alongside Tye Kartye and Joe Veleno on the fourth line.<\/p>\n<p>It all marked a return of the healthy version of Rempe, who struggled with shooting and handling pucks in 17 games after the first thumb procedure last season.
