When his inquiry leads directly to a ruthless corporate chairman played by Tony Leung Ka-fai, the two seasoned operators become locked in a battle of wits.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tRounding out the top five, Pearl River Film Group\u2019s crime thriller \u201cV\u201d took $2.8 million in its sixth frame to lift its cumulative gross to $96 million. Directed by Han Yan (\u201cLove Never Ends\u201d) and featuring an ensemble cast led by Tony Leung Ka-fai, Zhu Yilong, Tan Jianci, and Kara Wai, the film chronicles an ambitious man\u2019s rapid ascent to power and the lingering consequences that threaten his success.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMainland China\u2019s overall weekend grosses reached $39.9 million amid a customary quiet corridor ahead of the impending Golden Week holiday.
