COLUMBUS, Ohio (WXIX) -Two Cincinnati healthcare workers are facing criminal charges after state investigators accused them of billing Medicaid for services while clients were away or while traveling out of town, according to Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson. <\/p>\n
The charges come from a statewide investigation by the Ohio Attorney General\u2019s Office targeting 18 providers accused of defrauding Medicaid out of more than $355,000.<\/p>\n
According to state officials, 39-year-old Trenae Bishop of Cincinnati inflated their work hours and billed for in-home care while the client was away on spring break. Investigators say those fraudulent claims resulted in a $1,537 loss to Medicaid between March and May 2025.<\/p>\n
In a separate case, 51-year-old Lashonda Ferguson, also of Cincinnati, is accused of billing the state for home-care visits while taking trips to Indianapolis, Las Vegas, and New Orleans. Ferguson is also accused of billing for multiple Mondays that she never worked, totaling $4,000 in fraudulent payouts between September 2022 and November 2025.<\/p>\n
The Ohio Attorney General\u2019s Office urges anyone who suspects healthcare or Medicaid fraud to report it online or by calling 800-282-0515.<\/p>\n
