Kaduna State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners has expressed gratitude to Governor Uba Sani for releasing N3.659 billion for the payment of gratuity and death benefits.<\/p>\n
In a letter signed by Aboman Ladan and Alhassan Balarabe Musa, Chairman and Secretary respectively, the union noted that the Governor\u2019s \u2018\u2019commitment to the welfare and dignity of those who served Kaduna State with their productive years will never be forgotten.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

The letter, which was dated 23rd September, 2026, recalled that the latest release of entitlements \u2018\u2019covering 1,339 beneficiaries under the Defined Benefit Scheme(DBS) and Contributory Pension Scheme(CPS) has brought joy and relief to many homes.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2019We also acknowledge and commend Your Excellency for the cumulative payment of N21.455 billion to 9,683 beneficiaries since assuming office in May 2023,\u2019\u2019 the union noted.<\/p>\n

According to the letter which has reference number NUP\/KDS\/HQ\/VOL.2\/29, the Governor\u2019s commitment to the payment of pension \u2018\u2019clearly demonstrates that indeed, as you said, \u2018pension payment is not a favour. It is an obligation.\u2019\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n
It will be recalled that Governor Uba Sani had approved \u20a63.659 billion for the payment of pension, gratuities and death benefits to retirees and families of deceased public servants across Kaduna State and Local Government Services last week.<\/p>\n
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, the Governor said the latest approval covers 1,339 beneficiaries including retirees and eligible families of deceased public servants under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS) and Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).<\/p>\n
Giving a breakdown of the 1,339 beneficiaries in the latest release, the Commissioner said 210 Local Government retirees will receive \u20a6515 million under the Defined Benefit Scheme.<\/p>\n
Under the Contributory Pension Scheme, a combined \u20a63.144 billion has been approved for 1,129 beneficiaries, comprising 402 retirees from the State Service and 727 retirees from the Local Government Councils, he added.<\/p>\n
According to the Commissioner, out of the 1,339 beneficiaries covered by the latest \u20a63.659 billion approval, 210 are under the Defined Benefit Scheme, while 1,129 are under the Contributory Pension Scheme.<\/p>\n
Maiyaki further said the latest intervention underscores the administration\u2019s sustained commitment to systematically address outstanding pension liabilities while strengthening the integrity and long-term sustainability of Kaduna State\u2019s pension system.<\/p>\n
