With the No. 1 Texas Longhorns heading into the season\u2019s only bye week before traveling to Dallas to face off against the Oklahoma Sooners in the Cotton Bowl, head coach Steve Sarkisian was willing to field injury questions on Monday with nine days until the next SEC-mandated player availability report.<\/p>\n
Senior running back Hollywood Smothers dressed but did not play against Tennessee on Saturday. Suffering from a lower-leg injury, the 5\u201911, 196-pounder was officially listed as questionable on the injury reports released on Wednesday and Thursday before being upgraded to probable on Friday evening\u2019s report and coming off of it entirely prior to the game.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was an emergency for us Saturday. I felt like he probably could have gone, but what Raleek [Brown] had done in practice and Derek [Cooper] getting himself back, if I could have gotten out of that game with him not re-injuring himself, I think it would behoove us for the remainder of the season, and so we were able to do that. I think he\u2019ll be fine in a couple weeks when we play OU,\u201d Sarkisian said.<\/p>\n
On a 30-yard reception early in the third quarter, junior wide receiver Cam Coleman suffered a bone bruise when he landed on the natural grass at Neyland Stadium.<\/p>\n
