Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt\u2019s daughter Zahara has officially dropped her famous father\u2019s last name.<\/p>\n
On Monday, a Los Angeles judge granted the 21-year-old\u2019s petition to legally change her name from Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt to Zahara Marley Jolie<\/a>, according to court documents obtained by Page Six.<\/p>\n \u201cThere being no objections, the petition for change of name is granted,\u201d the Sept. 28 minute order states.<\/p>\n Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt\u2019s daughter Zahara, pictured above earlier this month, has officially dropped her famous father\u2019s last name. (Pictured: Brad Pitt and Zahara in August 2007) WireImage<\/p>\n \u201cThe Decree is signed and filed,\u201d the order continues. \u201cThe Petitioner\u2019s name is changed from Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt to Zahara Marley Jolie.\u201d<\/p>\n Zahara\u2019s attorney, Peter Kenneth Levine, appeared remotely for Monday morning\u2019s hearing, according to the filing.<\/p>\n Judge Virginia Keeny presided over the hearing at Los Angeles Superior Court\u2019s Stanley Mosk Courthouse.<\/p>\n Zahara, pictured above in Oct. 2021, had already stopped publicly using her father\u2019s last name before making the change official. Anyone who has actually been a part of this for the last ten years would know that there\u2019s only one side that talks about and has tried to weaponize the kids.\u201d<\/p>\n A second source close to the \u201cMaleficent\u201d star exclusively said in response, \u201cToday\u2019s hearing was required by law and scheduled months ago by the L.A. court system. It\u2019s a new low to have his camp to spin a conspiracy theory, disavow responsibility for his conduct, and attack his own child. Keep in mind, his daughter has had the grace not to discuss the details of his behavior in public.\u201d<\/p>\n The ruling comes more than two months after Page Six reported that Zahara and her brother Maddox had taken out newspaper advertisements announcing their respective petitions<\/a> to legally drop \u201cPitt\u201d from their surnames.\u00a0<\/p>\n Zahara, pictured above in June 2025, previously made headlines in November 2023 when she proudly introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie during her Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority induction ceremony. GC Images<\/p>\n The Spelman College graduate published notices of her proposed name change in the Los Angeles Daily Journal on June 16, June 23, June 30 and July 7.<\/p>\n The notices gave anyone opposing the change an opportunity to submit a written objection ahead of Monday\u2019s hearing.<\/p>\n Zahara had already stopped publicly using her father\u2019s last name before making the change official.<\/p>\n Zahara\u2019s younger sister Shiloh, pictured above in Nov. 2025, legally changed her name to Shiloh Jolie after filing a petition on her 18th birthday in May 2024.
