It will hold four meetings across the UK to hear directly from local employers, colleges, training providers, and young people. Its findings will be compiled into a report containing recommendations for airports, the infrastructure industry, and the government.

In the UK, around 1 million young people are not participating in education, employment, or vocational training. As part of its expansion plans, Heathrow will develop an employment and skills plan that will provide 5,000 apprenticeships, training placements, and entry-level job opportunities for young people. The plan is also expected to create 108,000 jobs in related fields such as engineering, construction, logistics, sustainability, and supply chains.

Thomas Woldbye, CEO of Heathrow Airport, commented, “Expanding Heathrow is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to future-proof vital national infrastructure for the UK and grow the skilled workforce we need.” Alan Milburn, the government’s youth employment adviser, welcomed the establishment of the council, saying, “Unless we act, we risk creating a lost generation.”

London Heathrow Airport has established the Heathrow Infrastructure Skills Council to address youth employment issues in the UK…

[38
28,134
post-864387","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-jobs","tag-business","tag-jobs
["GET
