OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A child was hurt in an overnight shooting in the North Omaha area.<\/p>\n
Omaha police and fire crews responded to a home near 26th and Spaulding streets shortly after 11 p.m. Monday, where they found a juvenile suffering from a gunshot wound.<\/p>\n
Omaha Police Lt. Chuck Casey at the scene told First Alert 6 the child is a 12-year-old boy. He was taken to the hospital in what Casey says is critical condition.<\/p>\n
The shooting is believed to have happened either inside or directly outside the home.<\/p>\n
Investigators are speaking with witnesses and a person of interest to determine what led up to the gunfire, including whether the shooting was accidental.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s several people here. There\u2019s several people who we\u2019re talking to to find out what led up to that,\u201d Casey said.<\/p>\n
