Lady A band member Charles Kelley has been diagnosed with a rare blood cancer after initially being treated for rib fractures.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had a couple of random rib fractures that happened, which sparked my doctor to having me do several different blood tests,\u201d the songwriter, 45, shared via an Instagram<\/a> video alongside his wife, Cassie McConnell, Tuesday.<\/p>\n \u201cOne of the last blood tests we did, they found a blood cancer in there called multiple myeloma.\u201d<\/p>\n Lady A\u2019s Charles Kelley announced he was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer via an Instagram video alongside his wife, Cassie McConnell, on Tuesday. Instagram\/charleskelley<\/p>\n The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation<\/a> defines the condition as a\u00a0\u201ccancer of the plasma cells found in the bone marrow.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s rare, but I\u2019m young,\u201d Kelley added. \u201cI feel healthy, and the treatments, I will say, have just come so far even in the past five years that even life expectancy just far exceeds what it used to be.\u201d <\/p>\n The country singer further explained that the first six months of treatment shouldn\u2019t be too invasive, saying, \u201cI think physically, I\u2019ll feel like myself. I\u2019ll have tough days [but] I want to keep working.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cOne of the last blood tests we did, they found a blood cancer in there called multiple myeloma,\u201d Kelley (seen here) continued. Instagram\/charleskelley<\/p>\n Kelley (seen here) shared the condition was \u201crare\u201d but that he\u2019s still \u201cyoung.\u201d Instagram\/charleskelley<\/p>\n Kelley shared that he remains \u201chopeful\u201d and \u201cconfident\u201d that he\u2019s going to get through it.<\/p>\n Additionally, he pledged to keep followers updated on his journey, similarly to how he was transparent about his sobriety journey<\/a> in 2022.<\/p>\n The vocalist concluded his announcement video by kissing McConnell on camera.
