\n\tChristy Carlson Romano<\/a>, who first broke out on the Disney Channel sitcom \u201cEven Stevens<\/a>,\u201d is opening up about her experience working alongside co-star Shia LaBeouf<\/a>. Speaking with Amanda Hirsch of the Not Skinny But Not Fat<\/a> podcast on Tuesday, Romano said that she and LaBeouf were \u201clike oil and water,\u201d despite being just 14 and 12 years old, respectively, at the time.<\/p>\n

\n\tRomano explained that their incompatibility on set stemmed from how they were raised.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI was being raised and brought up to be this type A, I mean exactly like Ren Stevens. Like, you know your lines, you hit your marks, you don\u2019t mess up,\u201d she said. \u201cYou\u2019re a New York kid, like that comes with a certain echelon\u2026 I was trying to go to pre-college Juilliard\u2026 everything we were doing, my mom called it cross-training, came with a certain dollar amount of training.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn comparison, LaBeouf has long been open about his tumultuous childhood and has said that his father was a recovering addict, and at times abusive. \u201cHe was a Venice Beach kind of bum kid,\u201d said Romano. \u201cIt\u2019s like that kind of vagrant fun, but also very chaotic and very scary lifestyle, and he was very young to be having that.\u201d She likened his upbringing to the lifestyle depicted in the 1995 Larry Clark film \u201cKids.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRomano did give LaBeouf credit for finding his manager at just eight years old; the \u201cTransformers\u201d and \u201cHoles\u201d star \u201chad a dream and made it happen for himself,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cEven Stevens\u201d ran from 2000 to 2003 and followed Ren (Romano) and Louis (LaBeouf), the two younger siblings of the Stevens family who were described as having opposing personalities and often clashing. <\/p>\n

\n\tThis isn\u2019t the first time Romano has weighed in on her relationship with LaBeouf<\/a>. Earlier this year, the actress posted \u2014 and then deleted \u2014 a statement reading \u201cShia doesn\u2019t deserve to be on the Rushmore. I\u2019ll be writing a Substack on this so you can understand why,\u201d to X. The comment came after \u201cThat\u2019s So Raven\u201d star Raven-Symon\u00e9 was asked who she\u2019d put on her Disney Mount Rushmore, to which she responded that LaBeouf would be one of them.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Tuesday, the actress also posted a photo of herself with LaBeouf and his father on the set of \u201cEven Stevens\u201d to Instagram<\/a>. \u201cRecently found this picture. Shia and I spent 3 years of our lives right next to each other in adjoining trailers, both of us enduring painful childhoods,\u201d she wrote. \u201cIf only we could have been there for each other, but we were each going through our own battles and could barely take care of ourselves.\u201d She concluded by writing that she\u2019d \u201cfinally\u201d be sharing everything in her forthcoming memoir, \u201cOnce Upon a Trainwreck: The Fall and Rise of a Child Star,\u201d which will be available on Oct. 6.<\/p>\n
