A popular blood pressure medication is being recalled for the second time this year by the Food and Drug Administration due to a quality issue. <\/p>\n

The recall, for 25 mg Chlorthalidone Tablets, was initially issued earlier this year<\/a> because the pills don’t dissolve properly. A that time, more than 11,400 bottles were involved. <\/p>\n

The recall now includes 13,567 bottles, an FDA enforcement report from September said. The bottles are from Batch No. RISA24002, with an expiration date of April 2027. <\/p>\n

According to the FDA, the pills are prescription only and were distributed nationwide. <\/p>\n

The recall has been listed as a “Class II” which indicates a moderate risk level. According to the FDA, exposure to any products under a “Class II” recall means the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote. <\/p>\n

The Mayo Clinic<\/a> reports Chlorthalidone “is used alone or together with other medicines to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).” It can also be used to treat fluid retention.<\/p>\n

It’s not the only recent blood pressure medication recall. <\/p>\n
