We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.<\/p>\n Your support makes all the difference.Read more<\/p>\n Slipknot is facing backlash after controversial rock singer Marilyn Manson was announced as the supporting act <\/a>on their upcoming stadium tour.<\/p>\n Manson is currently scheduled <\/a>to join the band\u2019s 2027 tour<\/a>, which was announced Monday, for their run of dates in South America, as well as their concert at London\u2019s Wembley Stadium. <\/p>\n However, fans of the masked metal band are now boycotting the shows over past abuse allegations against Manson<\/a>. His ex, Evan Rachel Wood, came forward with abuse allegations against Manson in 2021. Wood\u2019s statement prompted more than a dozen other women to share their own experiences of alleged abuse at the hands of Manson. <\/p>\n Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, has denied all allegations against him.<\/p>\n \u201cAs the biggest ex Manson fan in the world, what the HELL. This is so disappointing,\u201d one fan wrote on Instagram as another commented, \u201cWould’ve loved to see this but there’s literally nothing you could do to get my cash in Manson’s pockets.\u201d<\/p>\n One person added: \u201cLiterally pick anyone else ?????\u201d while another noted, \u201cWould have been going if Manson wasn\u2019t on the bill. What a terrible decision by everyone involved.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cNo original members of slipknot remaining and you\u2019re playing with manson\u2026 i\u2019m disappointed i used to call you my favourite band,\u201d another criticized, with one person adding: \u201cSo excited by this – and then saw MM was supporting. So, nope.\u201d<\/p>\n Someone else chimed in: \u201cI was SO excited for your tour announcement, I was even wearing one of your t-shirts at the time.. Until I read Manson\u2019s name. I can\u2019t believe this is the reason I can\u2019t see one of my favourite bands. Do better.\u201d<\/p>\n Thousands of similar comments expressing disappointment in the eight-piece band <\/a>poured in under the post announcing the tour.<\/p>\n Neither Slipknot nor Manson have returned The Independent\u2019s requests for comment.<\/p>\n Manson, 57, was publicly accused of sexual and physical abuse by his former fianc\u00e9e, actor Evan Rachel Wood, <\/a>who was in an on-and-off relationship with the singer from 2007 to 2010.<\/p>\n In 2021, Wood shared an Instagram post naming Manson as her abuser<\/a>. She alleged he \u201cstarted grooming me when I was a teenager and horrifically abused me for years.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI was brainwashed and manipulated into submission. I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander, or blackmail,\u201d the Westworld actor, now 39, wrote at the time. \u201cI am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him, before he ruins any more lives. I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent.\u201d<\/p>\n After Wood\u2019s statement<\/a>, more than a dozen other women came forward at the time and accused Manson of abuse.<\/p>\n Manson denied the claims on social media as \u201chorrible distortions of reality,\u201d saying: \u201cMy intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners.\u201d<\/p>\n He later tried to file a defamation lawsuit against Wood, but it was thrown out by a Los Angeles judge in 2023<\/a>.<\/p>\n The national domestic abuse helpline offers support for women on 0808 2000 247, or you can visit the Refuge<\/a> website.
