Facebook\/Newport Landing Whale Watching<\/p>\n<p>The female <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fisheries.noaa.gov\/species\/olive-ridley-turtle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">olive ridleys<\/a> have made history with nests documented in Seal Beach <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/07\/04\/us-news\/huntington-beach-packed-for-the-largest-4th-of-july-bash-west-of-mississippi\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">and Huntington Beach<\/a>, according to NOAA Fisheries, which says it is the first documented olive ridley nest ever recorded on the West Coast.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year in August, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/14\/us-news\/hammerhead-shark-spotted-off-malibu-coast-in-viral-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">a massive hammerhead shark was also spotted<\/a> near Malibu Pier.
