{"id":86719,"date":"2025-08-16T07:44:07","date_gmt":"2025-08-16T07:44:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/86719\/"},"modified":"2025-08-16T07:44:07","modified_gmt":"2025-08-16T07:44:07","slug":"teaonher-app-for-men-to-rate-women-hacked-days-after-users-doxxed-on-rival-tea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/86719\/","title":{"rendered":"TeaOnHer app for men to rate women hacked days after users doxxed on rival Tea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>First came Tea, then came the spill.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Weeks after hackers <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/26\/lifestyle\/tea-app-for-women-to-safely-talk-about-men-they-date-has-been-breached-user-ids-exposed\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">swiped user data from the Tea app<\/a> \u2014 a \u201crate your ex\u201d app where women could swap dirt on dud dates \u2014 its testosterone-fueled twin, TeaOnHer, has suffered the same fate.<\/p>\n<p>Billed as a \u201csafety\u201d tool, the viral gossip hub let women swap stories about dud dates and potential predators \u2014 featuring undercover convos, ID verifications, number lookups and photo sleuthing to expose fake profiles.<\/p>\n<p>But after simmering quietly for a year, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/29\/tech\/tea-app-takes-messaging-system-offline-after-security-breach\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the app boiled over<\/a> in July 2025, landing in Apple\u2019s top three downloads.<\/p>\n<p>Not to be outdone, TeaOnHer launched last month \u2014 promising men their own place to dish about dates \u2014 and shot up the charts right beside its sister app.<\/p>\n<p>Just weeks after hackers raided the women-only Tea app, its men-only twin, TeaOnHer, got hit the same way. TeaOnHer<\/p>\n<p>Hackers struck Tea in July, swiping private chats and ID snaps and posting them on 4chan, as per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.404media.co\/women-dating-safety-app-tea-breached-users-ids-posted-to-4chan\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">404 Media.<\/a> Slueths followed suit for TeaOnHer last week.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/08\/13\/how-we-found-teaonher-spilling-users-drivers-licenses-in-less-than-10-minutes\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">TechCrunch<\/a> said reporters cracked into the sensitive stash in minutes, thanks to an admin panel so wide open it didn\u2019t even ask for a login.<\/p>\n<p>On August 14, one X user weighed in on how hackers broke in, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/vxunderground\/status\/1955993109336109422?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1955993109336109422%7Ctwgr%5Eb319b7579470eb1fed0dcd989d508ad909a07d31%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailydot.com%2Fnews%2Fteaonher-hack-tea-app-2%2F\" rel=\"nofollow\">writing<\/a>, \u201cTeaOnHer, the app meant to combat the infamous \u2018TeaApp\u2019, is also a giant dumpster fire. It has been compromised.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTHE DEVELOPER MADE HIS PASSWORD TO THE ADMIN PANEL \u2018Password1!\u2019. IT WAS STORED IN PLAIN TEXT ON THE LANDING PAGE. WHAT THE F\u2014K.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>TeaOnHer hit the App Store last month, giving men their own spot to dish on dates \u2014 and quickly shot up the charts alongside its sister app. Buzzer Beaters \u2013 stock.adobe.com<\/p>\n<p>Both Tea and TeaOnHer could be staring down class-action lawsuits from users whose private info hit the web,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/tech\/social-media\/10-women-sued-tea-app-photos-hacked-leaked-online-rcna222880\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> NBC News wrote.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Since the original Tea app got busted, Redditors on r\/technology <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/31\/us-news\/i-tried-the-tea-app-and-saw-its-dating-dysfunction-firsthand\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">have been roasting<\/a> TeaOnHer for the same sloppy security.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailydot.com\/news\/teaonher-hack-tea-app-2\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a> by The Daily Dot, one user wrote, \u201cWait, so they saw what happened with the first app getting \u2018hacked\u2019 and decided, let\u2019s store user info in the same negligent way?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Some even wondered if the hack was a sting aimed at outing the men using the app. <\/p>\n<p>One <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/meeekrostuff\/status\/1955882706434167107\" rel=\"nofollow\">tweeted<\/a>, \u201cWas this just a revenge project made by the original with the only intention of doxxing some men?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/25\/lifestyle\/gen-z-date-rating-app-tea-has-women-cheering-and-men-worried\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">previously reported<\/a> by The Post, the initial Tea app had men breaking into a cold sweat \u2014 and not over <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/03\/26\/lifestyle\/more-gen-z-men-are-insisting-on-paying-for-dates-but-one-is-getting-ridiculed-for-whipping-out-his-mothers-credit-card-may-this-love-never-find-me\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">forgetting their wallets <\/a>on first dates. <\/p>\n<p>Users anonymously roasted exes and warned about sketchy dates as the app climbed the App Store charts, sparking a fiery clash between digital safety and online trash talk.<\/p>\n<p>After Tea got hacked, Redditors tore into TeaOnHer for repeating the same security fiasco. Tetiana \u2013 stock.adobe.com<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI see men freaking out today about this Tea app,\u201d TikTokker @azalialexi noted in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@azalialexi\/video\/7530847152407399711\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">recent video<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you don\u2019t want things like this to exist, then maybe look into advocating for women\u2019s safety and actually holding your fellow men accountable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This week, TikTok user @ninadoesthemost observed that many women used the Tea app \u201cto expose people who be doing [domestic violence] and maybe got a restraining order,\u201d or men who have secret children they \u201cdon\u2019t show up for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Men, however, would join TeaOnHer \u201cfor a different reason.\u201d She alleged, \u201cThey\u2019re green flagging which girls are easy or good in bed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Others, however, feared that the concept of both apps had crossed the line into full-blown digital vigilantism.
