Amanda Peet noticed something \u201cweird\u201d with her body months before she was diagnosed with breast cancer<\/a> last fall.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was in my closet, I was probably putting something on and I felt a weird \u2014 it just didn\u2019t feel like normal skin \u2014 but it wasn\u2019t the frozen pea that everybody talks about,\u201d the \u201cWhole Nine Yards\u201d actress revealed to Savannah Guthrie on the \u201cToday\u201d show<\/a> Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went and I even got an MRI and then they sent me away,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I thought I had a clean bill of health, but they were actually watching it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amanda Peet (seen above on \u201cToday\u201d show Thursday) revealed what \u201cweird\u201d symptom she had before her breast cancer diagnosis. NBC<\/p>\n

\u201cI felt a weird \u2014 it just didn\u2019t feel like normal skin \u2014 but it wasn\u2019t the frozen pea that everybody talks about,\u201d the \u201cWhole Nine Yards\u201d actress (seen above with Savannah Guthrie) said. NBC<\/p>\n

Peet, 54, said that when she went in for a routine scan six months later, her doctor told her they noticed something concerning on her ultrasound.<\/p>\n

After testing was done, Peet\u2019s doctor called her to let her know she had lobular cancer, the second most common type of breast cancer. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll never forget that moment,\u201d she recalled.<\/p>\n

The \u201cYour Friends & Neighbors\u201d star said she originally \u201chad such an old-fashioned notion about breast cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cWhole Nine Yards\u201d star (seen above in the hospital with Sarah Paulson) said her doctor told her they noticed something concerning on her ultrasound when she went in for a routine scan. NBC<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is like a slow drip of information doctors are gathering \u2014 genomic, genetic information \u2026 so they can get a full picture of what the best treatment would be,\u201d she shared.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had no idea it was going to take so long. So if you\u2019re an anxious person, it\u2019s your basic nightmare,\u201d Peet continued.<\/p>\n

The actress urged people to \u201cstay off the internet\u201d if they have been diagnosed with cancer to avoid going down rabbit holes of possible misinformation.<\/p>\n

However, Peet said she had an \u201cadvantage\u201d because her sister and brother-in-law are both doctors.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been taught not to take my medical advice from influencers or TikTok or anybody else,\u201d she shared.<\/p>\n

In March, Peet revealed in a New Yorker article that she had been diagnosed with cancer while dealing with her divorced parents being in hospice care \u201con opposite coasts.\u201d<\/p>\n

A few days later, the \u201c2012\u201d star exclusively gave Page Six an update on her health, saying she was \u201cdoing great.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

Peet received her first clear, cancer-free scan in mid-January after undergoing treatment.<\/p>\n
