Tony Romo is back in the public eye in what was his first appearance since his OWI arrest<\/a> in July and indefinite leave from CBS<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The former Cowboys quarterback was spotted competing in a professional golf tournament at The Club at Forest Ridge in Oklahoma on Wednesday. It was a pre-qualifying event for the PGA Tour Q-School by Korn Ferry as Romo tries get on the first rung of the league\u2019s ladder.<\/p>\n

Romo was wearing a gray polo paired with black pants and a white cap in a video and photos shared by News on 6<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The avid golfer shot a 4-over at 76 in the first round, which tied him for 48th in the field and nine shots behind the leader with two rounds to go.<\/p>\n

Romo, who has previously participated in the PGA Tour\u2019s Q-School pre-qualifying, was leaving from a round of golf when he was arrested for driving under the influence in Wisconsin<\/a> on July 23.<\/p>\n

After the incident, the 46-year-old was placed on leave from CBS<\/a> \u201cuntil further notice.\u201d<\/p>\n

He joined the network after retiring from the NFL in 2017 and was named CBS\u2019 top NFL analyst, joining forces with Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson.<\/p>\n

CBS has not acknowledged when Romo could return to the booth after replacing him with J.J. Watt. <\/p>\n

Watt is set to call Sunday afternoon\u2019s Chiefs-Raiders game in Las Vegas. The network did not include Romo in its Week 4 list<\/a> of broadcasters.<\/p>\n

Romo was issued four citations, including one for OWI, one for possessing open intoxicants in a moving vehicle, one for unsafe passing on the right and one for refusing to take test for intoxication after arrest.<\/p>\n

It was later revealed that his blood-alcohol level was a BAC of .15.<\/a><\/p>\n

Last month, he pleaded no contest through his lawyer to the OWI charge. The other three citations were dismissed as part of the agreement with prosecutors.<\/p>\n

Romo also posted a statement and apology on social media in September, acknowledging he has had an \u201cover-reliance on alcohol\u201d<\/a> that was developed from several back procedures he endured during his 13-year NFL career.<\/p>\n

\u201cI own this completely,\u201d he wrote. \u201cAs I have taught my three young sons: when you fall short, you stand up and take full responsibility. That is an important first step.\u201d<\/p>\n

Roughly $72 million over the final four years of Romo\u2019s 10-year contract signed in 2020 is still owed to him.<\/p>\n

CBS is seemingly still assessing the impact after CBS Sports president David Berson stated the company didn\u2019t have a timeline for a final decision in August.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn making this decision, we have to consider the impact on our image and our brand,\u201d Berson said of placing Romo. \u201cThat\u2019s very important to us. The focus should be and needs to be on our presentation and this great product and not on any other factors. Fortunately, we have a deep bench, and I\u2019m really proud of the way everybody is stepping up and responding.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unknown if CBS would be able to get out of the contract, but some legal experts cautioned to The Post that it\u00a0could be hard for the network to win that battle<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Romo has previously played in three Korn Ferry Tour events in 2020 and 2021.
