{"id":867727,"date":"2026-10-02T01:50:09","date_gmt":"2026-10-02T01:50:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/867727\/"},"modified":"2026-10-02T01:50:09","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T01:50:09","slug":"people-living-on-often-flooded-northwest-side-street-hoping-to-avoid-more-problems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/867727\/","title":{"rendered":"People living on often-flooded Northwest Side street hoping to avoid more problems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">SAN ANTONIO \u2013 People living along one Northwest Side street that has flooded multiple times in recent years are hoping for the best but preparing for the worst ahead of an oncoming storm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Forecasts called for a large amount of rain and potential flooding across the area, beginning Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">\u201cI don\u2019t know. I\u2019ll probably get sandbags or something to make sure it doesn\u2019t come up,\u201d said Eric Stubbs, who lives on Dhaka View.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The street, not far from Grissom Road and Timberhill Drive, has become submerged in floodwaters several times recently.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The last time was in July, when Jonathan Clemente\u2019s end of the block got hit the hardest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">He lost a dining room table and refrigerator to flooding.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">\u201cI didn\u2019t even get it out of the box or enjoy it for one day before the flood took it away,\u201d he told KSAT 12 News at that time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Clemente had just replaced those items after losing them in another flood in 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Other neighbors spoke of damage to their homes and foundations caused by the repeated deluges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">They believe the flooding stems from a drainage problem involving a nearby creek. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Stubbs, who moved into the neighborhood only a few months ago, said he had noticed a few signs of trouble but didn\u2019t know the depth of it. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">\u201cThe corrosion in the back and the fence, how it is,\u201d he said. \u201cI heard a little bit, but we really are just new here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">He and his family are renting their home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">At the other end of the street is a sign outside a home indicating that the owner plans to sell it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">It may be a while before the problem itself goes away.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">A spokesman for the city of San Antonio\u2019s Public Works department told KSAT 12 News back in July that work on a project to mitigate the drainage problem is expected to start in mid-to-late 2027. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Previous coverage on KSAT: <\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 by KSAT &#8211; All rights reserved.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"SAN ANTONIO \u2013 People living along one Northwest Side street that has flooded multiple times in recent years&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":867728,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[4,450,1023,451,3,112218,6999,452,453,2986],"class_list":["post-867727","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-breaking-news","tag-breaking-news","tag-breakingnews","tag-flooding","tag-headlines","tag-news","tag-northwest-side","tag-san-antonio","tag-top-stories","tag-topstories","tag-weather"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/867727","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=867727"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/867727\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/867728"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=867727"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=867727"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=867727"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
