NFL insider Mike Garafolo<\/a>. FIRST UPDATE: More reporting that suggests Smith will probably not play this weekend.<\/p>\n\u201cI heard at the beginning of this week that DeVonta is likely to miss this game and maybe another one. Could be a two or three week hamstring injury.\u201d<\/p>\n
It should be noted Garafolo calling him \u201clegitimately questionable\u201d isn\u2019t necessarily the same thing as the Eagles officially listed Smith with a questionable designation on their final injury report.<\/p>\n
With the Eagles holding a walkthrough in lieu of a normal practice on Wednesday, the team issued an estimated injury report. Smith was listed under \u201cdid not participate.\u201d<\/p>\n
Smith was also listed under DNP on Thursday ahead of their Week 3 game against the Chicago Bears. But then he was upgraded to limited on Friday and full go on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The difference from last week to this week, thus far, is that Smith also seemingly did not participate in today\u2019s practice. If he fails to participate again on Friday, it\u2019s hard to envision him suiting on Sunday since players who don\u2019t practice typically don\u2019t play in games.<\/p>\n
If Smith can\u2019t play against the Rams, the Eagles will be without a player who has accounted for 33% of their targets, 34% of their receptions, 38% of their receiving yards, 20% of their receiving touchdowns, and 36% of their receiving first downs this season. Not ideal. Especially since they\u2019re already down top tight end Dallas Goedert.<\/p>\n
With Hollywood Brown also missing practices this week, the Eagles could be down to these healthy receivers: Dontayvion Wicks, Makai Lemon, Darius Cooper, Elijah Moore, and Britain Covey. They also have Xavier Gipson on the practice squad.<\/p>\n
Although the Eagles might be undermanned at receiver, the Rams are dealing with injury issues of their own in their secondary. Starting cornerback Jaylen Watson is expected to miss this week\u2019s game.<\/p>\n
