The three got the tapes out of \u2018Tomorrow Never Knows.\u2019 And they were playing it on the multi-track,\u201d he said, via The Mirror<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI thought, \u2018The Beatles mentioned my name,\u2019\u201d Collins continued. \u201cI went back to watch it recently and they\u2019d taken it out. It\u2019s not there anymore…. I don\u2019t know, maybe McCartney didn\u2019t like it.\u201d<\/p>\n You may like<\/p>\n Collins did not provide evidence that McCartney had anything to do with the edit, and it is not clear why the reference was removed from the updated version of the documentary. McCartney has not publicly responded to the claim.<\/p>\n The suggestion is notable because Collins and McCartney have a history that dates back more than two decades. Collins described their falling-out in 2016, recounting an encounter with McCartney and his then-wife Heather Mills at Buckingham Palace in 2002.<\/p>\n Collins said he approached McCartney with a first edition of The Beatles by Hunter Davies and asked him to sign it.<\/p>\n \u201cI said, \u2018Hey Paul, do you mind signing this for me?\u2019 And he said, \u2018Oh Heather, our little Phil\u2019s a bit of a Beatles fan,\u2019\u201d Collins recalled. \u201cAnd I thought, \u2018You fuck. Collins later told NME<\/a>, \u201cHe\u2019s been in touch about it because he was upset. I certainly didn\u2019t get any flowers from him; I got more of a \u2018Let\u2019s just get on with our lives.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n The two musicians eventually put the dispute behind them. Earlier this year Collins said he wished he had never spoken publicly about the feud, noting that they had since \u201cmade up<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n Collins\u2019 connection to the Beatles goes beyond his brief reference in the original Antholog release. He was among the musicians who did session work on George Harrison\u2019s All Things Must Pass solo album in 1970, playing congas, but his contribution never made it onto the completed album.
