Conservationist and author\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/drkatet\/reels\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dr Katie Elizabeth Thompson<\/a>\u00a0shared an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reels\/Dbn4op6onk5\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Instagram<\/a>\u00a0video showing just how sweet these diminutive birds are when they\u2019re just living their best lives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNetflix is cool but imagine spending hours sitting on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwildlife.com\/photo-galleries\/puffin-photographs\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Skomer Island<\/a> watching puffins pass by,\u201d says the on-screen text as a tiny puffin hops along the grass \u2013 just inches from Thompson&#8217;s outstretched legs \u2013 looks around then toddles off, completely unbothered by her presence.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Puffin magic. But during spring and summer, it\u2019s possible to see them in their breeding colonies when their iconic striped bills are on display. The little birds have more muted winter plumage and their beaks are drained of colour when they\u2019re not using them to attract mates.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Skomer, off the coast of Pembrokeshire, Wales, is known for its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwildlife.com\/photo-galleries\/puffin-photographs\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">breeding colony<\/a>\u00a0of puffins.
