\n\tPhil Collins has let go of his decades-old grudge against Paul McCartney<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring an interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored<\/a> on Friday, the famed musician detailed an encounter (one he\u2019s told before) he had with the Beatle back in 2002 during the Queen\u2019s Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace. During rehearsals the day before the show, Collins recalled, \u201cI had a first edition Hunter Davis book [on The Beatles], which was a very, quite rare, first edition. I\u2019d been given it by Jill, Lily\u2019s mum.\u201d He added, \u201cAnd I took it to the rehearsal so Paul could sign it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile sitting on the side of the stage, Collins said that he asked McCartney to sign the book and he obliged. However, Collins added, that\u2019s when McCartney said to his then-wife Heather Mills, and remarked, \u201cHe\u2019s a big Beatles fan, is our little Phil?’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCollins said, \u201cI thought, \u2018You arsehole\u2019. I couldn\u2019t help it. That\u2019s just what I thought. I probably made more of it than he meant, I did make more of it. But when I was writing the book, and I wanted to write how I felt about certain things.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen promoting his memoir in 2016, Collins revealed his story to\u00a0The Sunday Times<\/a>. After McCartney emailed Collins to sort things out, the Genesis musician didn\u2019t reply.<\/p>\n

\n\tJump forward to earlier this year (and a few tabloids later), when McCartney called the Genesis drummer up after hearing that Collins was asking fellow musicians if they had any memorabilia they\u2019d be offering to dontate to the Kings Trust charity auction he was organizing.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile chatting on the phone, McCartney brought up their ongoing tiff. Collins shared: \u201cAnd he said, \u2018While we\u2019re on the phone,\u2019 and I thought, oh, here we go. So he said, \u2018What is all this about?\u2019 I said, \u2018I wish I\u2019d never said it, Paul, I wish I\u2019d never said it\u2019. He said, \u2018I thought we were good, you know.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAnd just like that, the over 20 year spat was squashed. \u201cSo we kissed and made up,\u201d Collins concluded. \u201cI said I was sorry\u2026 Obviously this had been bugging him because he likes to be liked, as we all do, you know, and maybe him more than some other people. But we all like to be liked. And I understand that. And we kissed and made up.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn August, Collins<\/a> revealed in an interview with the Sunday Times<\/a> that he nearly died in 2024 amid his battle with alcoholic addiction<\/a>. The singer said that he was first admitted to a Swiss hospital in connection with his alcohol use in November 2023. While he was initially discharged before Christmas that year, he was readmitted a few weeks later and placed into intensive care, where he lay unconscious.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe artist ultimately spent seven months in the hospital recovering from his near-death ordeal. \u201cI was very lucky to have come out of that,\u201d Phil told\u00a0the Sunday Times. \u201cNeedless to say, I haven\u2019t had a drink since.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Phil Collins has let go of his decades-old grudge against Paul McCartney.
