Bryce Harper is expecting change in Philadelphia after another disappointing October.<\/p>\n

The Phillies have gone three straight seasons without winning a playoff series after pushing the Diamondbacks to a seven-game series in the NLCS back in 2023.<\/p>\n

But Harper asserts that next season will look different in Philly after yet another flop in early fall.<\/p>\n

\u201cEach year\u2019s so different than the year before. I don\u2019t really put stock into years before or what happened or anything else,\u201d Harper said after being eliminated by the Braves. \u201cThis was a brand new team. Obviously, we had the guys that are part of that core group that we are. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d imagine this team is going to look a lot different next year with the guys that are leaving this clubhouse. So, we\u2019ll see.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since 2023, the Phillies have suffered NLDS exits in 2024 and 2025 before losing to the Braves<\/a> in the wild-card round this week.<\/p>\n

In 2026, Philadelphia finished with an 88-74 record and needed a Game 162 victory to secure its fifth consecutive postseason berth.<\/p>\n

The Phillies had won at least 90 games in each of the prior three regular seasons.<\/p>\n

Harper, a two-time MVP and nine-time All-Star, is signed with the team through 2031 and turns 34 in two weeks.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re here to do business. You\u2019re here to win games, and we didn\u2019t do that,\u201d Harper said after their 6-2 Game 3 loss in Atlanta.<\/p>\n

Harper wasn\u2019t fully on an island either.<\/p>\n

Phillies starter Aaron Nola, who has been with the major-league club since 2015, also noted the team\u2019s shortcomings, specifically honing in on everything not coming together at the right time this season.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously, we\u2019d love to win a World Series with these guys. We\u2019ve been together quite a while, and we\u2019ve got a good clubhouse, and you know, good characters on this team,\u201d Nola said. \u201cWe know what type of guys are in here. We know what type of players we have, and what we\u2019re capable of. <\/p>\n

\u201c(We need to) kind of play good at the right time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Interim manager Don Mattingly also spoke about the team\u2019s loss and what factored into it.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019d love to be able to set your pitching up and them be rested and all that kind of stuff,\u201d said Mattingly, who exited his post as Phillies skipper<\/a> on Friday. \u201cBut that\u2019s not the way it went.<\/p>\n
