(KATV)  \u2014 Arkansans have an opportunity to safely get rid of their unused, unwanted or expired medications later this month. <\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s because Arkansas&#8217; fall Drug Take Back Day is scheduled for Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Law enforcement agencies will host collection drives across the state to give people the opportunity to safely and securely dispose of their medications and prescriptions, including opioids. <\/p>\n<p>Flushing medications down the toilet or tossing them in the trash can can pollute our waterways and put our families and friends at risk,&#8221; Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders said. &#8220;Arkansas Drug Take Back Day provides convenient and responsible alternatives.<\/p>\n<p>More than 342 tons of unwanted medication have been disposed of since the program first launched in spring 2010. <\/p>\n<p>A full list of drop-off events and collection boxes is available <a href=\"https:\/\/ardrugtakeback.org\/dispose-of-drugs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">HERE<\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"LITTLE ROCK, Ark.
