Eligibility is not dependent on a claimant\u2019s employment record.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Worth an average of $738.73 per month, according to the SSA\u2019s latest figures, SSI was due to be paid out for October on <a href=\"https:\/\/en.as.com\/latest_news\/the-social-security-admin-is-sending-out-benefits-on-thursday-october-1-who-gets-a-payment-f202609-n\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/en.as.com\/latest_news\/the-social-security-admin-is-sending-out-benefits-on-thursday-october-1-who-gets-a-payment-f202609-n\/\">Thursday 1<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Why is today\u2019s Social Security going out early?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The two groups of beneficiaries above usually get Social Security on the third of the month. However, as October 3 is a Saturday, the SSA has brought this month\u2019s payment date forward to the nearest working day.<\/p>\n<p>How much are Social Security payments?Retirement: $2,033.27Disability: $1,498.94Survivor: $1,635.70<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Average monthly benefit, per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/policy\/docs\/quickfacts\/stat_snapshot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/policy\/docs\/quickfacts\/stat_snapshot\/\">SSA stats<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>How much will the 2027 COLA be? <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The SSA is scheduled to announce its annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) on October 14, with the agency expected to enact a 3.5% hike on Social Security and SSI benefits, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.as.com\/latest_news\/senior-citizens-league-director-targets-annual-social-security-policy-cola-only-happening-once-a-year-puts-life-on-hold-f202609-n\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/en.as.com\/latest_news\/senior-citizens-league-director-targets-annual-social-security-policy-cola-only-happening-once-a-year-puts-life-on-hold-f202609-n\/\" target=\"_blank\">per<\/a> a forecast by the Senior Citizens League.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The SSA\u2019s latest COLA is due to be applied to monthly payments from January 2027.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>What other Social Security payment runs are in October?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Of the 71.5 million Social Security beneficiaries nationwide, most will get their money on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/policy\/docs\/quickfacts\/stat_snapshot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/policy\/docs\/quickfacts\/stat_snapshot\/\">the second, third or fourth Wednesday<\/a> in October. Under this three-Wednesdays system, an individual\u2019s designated payment date depends on their birthday:<\/p>\n<p>Born on 1st-10th of any month: paid on Wednesday, October 14Born on 11th-20th of any month: paid on Wednesday, October 21Born on 21st-31st of any month: paid on Wednesday, October 28<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">NB: If you receive Social Security based on someone else\u2019s employment history, the SSA uses the other person\u2019s date of birth.<\/p>\n<p>How does the SSA pay out benefits?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Social Security recipients can supply the SSA with their bank details on the online \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=fFmSHpg-ib4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=fFmSHpg-ib4\">my Social Security<\/a>\u201d portal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Benefits can be paid onto the Direct Express Card, a special <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/faqs\/en\/questions\/KA-02429.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/faqs\/en\/questions\/KA-02429.html\">debit card<\/a> for recipients without a bank account.
