It\u2019s time for another cleanup on Aisle 12.<\/p>\n

New Seahawks owner Vinod Khosla, who previously complained<\/a> about the media focusing on his claim at his first press conference in August that he was and is a Steelers fan (and still watches all of their games), now takes issue with the reasonable reaction to on-the-record quotes he recently gave to Axios.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo all @Seahawks fans and @12s,\u201d Khosla said on Twitter, \u201cwe have no plans to move the team, have never discussed it, haven\u2019t even thought about it. End of story. I\u2019ve said repeatedly we have no plans to change anything. Feel sad for the reporters looking for views and clicks who distort my answer out of context<\/a> and sent an entire city into a spiral for no reason.\u201d<\/p>\n

Where\u2019s the distortion? He gave a quote. The quote was noticed, given its obvious implication. And the quote was repeated. That\u2019s how this entire business works.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the question<\/a> that Khosla was asked by Axios: \u201cYou\u2019ve talked about being a steward of the Seahawks and preserving what Paul Allen built. But I don\u2019t think you\u2019ve formally committed to keeping the team in Seattle long-term. Will you make that commitment?\u201d<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s his response: \u201cI will never say never. Will this team be in Seattle 500 years from now? But I have no current plans to change anything about the team, including the coach, president, operation or Lumen Field. It all functions well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Khosla chose the words he uttered. He could have said, \u201cThe team will never move as long as I own it.\u201d<\/p>\n

He\u2019s smart enough to know that would have harmed his leverage to get as much free money as possible when it\u2019s time to renovate or to replace Lumen Field. And that\u2019s fine. Still, he can\u2019t have it both ways.<\/p>\n

But it\u2019s not his fault for saying it. It\u2019s our fault for saying that he said it.<\/p>\n

On top of all of that, he had yet another chance to say, \u201cThe team will never move as long as I own it.\u201d Instead, he said in his tweet, \u201cWe have no plans to move the team.\u201d <\/p>\n

Plans change, all the time. Hiding behind the phrase \u201cno plans\u201d creates flexibility to devise a different plan later.<\/p>\n

Frankly, the city was \u201csent into a spiral\u201d because Khosla missed the layup. And then went back to the line, dribbled to the hoop, and missed it again.<\/p>\n

Khosla also told Axios that \u201che know[s] very little about running a team.\u201d <\/p>\n
