Phil Collins\u2019 beef with Paul McCartney is so \u201cYesterday.\u201d<\/p>\n
During an interview on \u201cPiers Morgan Uncensored\u201d<\/a> on Friday, the \u201cIn the Air Tonight\u201d singer once again recalled the squabble he had with the \u201cMaybe I\u2019m Amazed\u201d singer that began 24 years ago \u2014 and shared how they squashed their feud.<\/p>\n The inciting incident between the two musicians occurred at the Queen\u2019s Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace in 2002 when, during rehearsals, Collins presented a rare first edition of Hunter Davies\u2019 book on The Beatles and asked McCartney to sign it.<\/p>\n The former Genesis drummer claims that\u2019s when McCartney remarked to his then-wife Heather Mills, \u201cHe\u2019s a big Beatles fan, is our little Phil?\u201d<\/p>\n Phil Collins, pictured above in 2019, recalled his long feud with Paul McCartney once again \u2014 but revealed they have squashed their beef. Redferns<\/p>\n \u201cI thought, \u2018You arsehole,\u2019\u201d he recalled to Morgan. \u201cI couldn\u2019t help it. That\u2019s just what I thought. I probably made more of it than he meant; I did make more of it.\u201d<\/p>\n But time heals all wounds, as the old adage goes.<\/p>\n Collins, 75, told Morgan that McCartney, 84, recently called him up after hearing he was asking fellow musicians if they had any memorabilia they\u2019d be offering to donate to the Kings Trust charity auction he was organizing.<\/p>\n During their phone conversation, Collins said McCartney brought up their estrangement and asked, \u201cWhat is all this about?\u201d<\/p>\n Collins, seen here in 2019, claimed McCartney was condescending when he asked him to sign a book \u2014 which kicked off the 24-year tiff. I wish I\u2019d never said it,’\u201d he recalled. \u201cHe said, \u2018I thought we were good.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cSo we kissed and made up,\u201d the \u201cYou\u2019ll Be in My Heart\u201d singer concluded, though he still took another dig at McCartney.<\/p>\n \u201cI said I was sorry,\u201d Collins said. \u201cObviously this had been bugging him because he likes to be liked, as we all do \u2026 maybe him more than some other people. But we all like to be liked, and I understand that.\u201d<\/p>\n Morgan then asked if McCartney saying the word \u201clittle\u201d was what triggered him nearly a quarter of a century ago, which Collins affirmed.<\/p>\n The Genesis star, photographed in 2022, told McCartney he regretted making the comments. Alan Davidson \/ Shutterstock<\/p>\n While promoting his memoir \u201cNot Dead Yet\u201d<\/a> in 2016, Collins \u2014 who has not closed the door on new music<\/a> despite health issues \u2014 recounted the tiff to the Sunday Times, alleging that McCartney had always treated him \u201ccondescendingly.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMcCartney read this and emailed him, saying, \u2018I\u2019m a bit disappointed, blah blah,\u2019 He said don\u2019t be so\u2009\u2026 \u2018sacrosanct\u2019 was the word he used.
