An ‘Employment Exchange Centre’ is in the offing to bridge the gap between jobseekers and potential employers across Bangladesh, at a time when millions are on the lookout for jobs.<\/p>\n

To build a robust job repository, a comprehensive database of interested jobseekers will be compiled through career and job fairs hosted across colleges and universities.<\/p>\n

Concurrently, the ministry will prepare both online and offline databases identifying specific workforce demands from various industrial plants and manufacturing sectors, enabling direct linkage between recruiters and candidates.<\/p>\n

“And the employment exchange centre will bridge directly between the jobseekers and the employers,” Labour and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury said Sunday at a press briefing held at his secretariat office.<\/p>\n

He disclosed that the flagship initiative will initially be launched in the capital in December before being expanded gradually to cover all divisions and 64 districts nationwide.<\/p>\n

Attending the briefing, Prime Minister’s Office Spokesperson and Adviser Mahdi Amin stated that establishing the Employment Exchange Centre and organising nationwide career fairs fulfills a core commitment from the \u00a0government’s election manifesto.<\/p>\n

He emphasized that the initiative aims to “harness Bangladesh’s demographic dividend by creating sustainable employment avenues” for both educated youths and individuals outside mainstream education seeking to enter the job market.<\/p>\n

“The centre will identify industry-specific skill requirements of the modern era and incorporate targeted training programs through joint partnerships with skill-development institutions under various \u00a0government ministries,” he told reporters.<\/p>\n

Labour and Employment Secretary Md Abdur Rahman Tarafdar presented detailed progress on key regulatory reforms, including the Bangladesh Labour (Amendment) Act 2026, child labour elimination measures, Minimum Wage Board activities, and the amendment of Bangladesh Labour Rules.<\/p>\n

Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE) Inspector-General Md Farhad Siddique, Additional Secretary Md Abdur Rahim Khan and Department of Labour Director-General Md Abdus Samad Al Azad were among others present at the press meet.<\/p>\n
