{"id":871307,"date":"2026-10-05T06:54:09","date_gmt":"2026-10-05T06:54:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/871307\/"},"modified":"2026-10-05T06:54:09","modified_gmt":"2026-10-05T06:54:09","slug":"hansi-flick-set-to-begin-barcelona-preparations-with-just-eight-first-team-players","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/871307\/","title":{"rendered":"Hansi Flick set to begin Barcelona preparations with just eight first-team players"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hansi Flick will begin preparations for Barcelona\u2019s return to club football with an unusually small group.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ongoing international break leaves the German coach with potentially only eight first-team players for Monday\u2019s training session.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/as.com\/futbol\/primera\/flick-regresa-bajo-minimos-f202610-n\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Diario AS<\/a>, Bar\u00e7a will not have their full available squad together again until Thursday, barely 48 hours before they face Getafe at the Spotify Camp Nou on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Flick starts with depleted group<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alejandro Balde, Brian Farinas, Gavi, Wojciech Szczesny, Gerard Martin and Gabriel Jesus are expected to be available when training resumes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Karim Adeyemi could also join them after only being called up for Germany\u2019s first two matches, while Frenkie de Jong is expected to complete part of the session with the group.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/germany-v-greece-uefa-nations-league-2026-27-group-a2-md2-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Karim Adeyemi, Barcelona and Germany star\" class=\"wp-image-214054\"  \/>Barcelona players are on international duty with their nations. The numbers should improve gradually through the week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Joao Cancelo and Hamza Abdelkarim are scheduled to return on Tuesday, with Jules Kounde following on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eric Garcia and Raphinha <a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/barcelona-breathe-a-sigh-of-relief-as-tests-confirm-no-injury-to-captain-will-be-available-vs-getafe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">are also expected back<\/a> in the coming days after returning from international duty with minor physical problems.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Joan Garcia should also be available again sooner rather than later after the injury he suffered against Racing.<\/p>\n<p>Spain contingent will not return until Thursday<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hansi Flick\u2019s biggest concern is the Spain contingent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fermin Lopez, Lamine Yamal, Dani Olmo, Pedri, Pau Cubarsi, Rodri, Xavi Espart and Marc Bernal are all expected to return on Thursday following their commitments across Spain\u2019s senior and Under-21 sides.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anthony Gordon and Dominik Livakovic are also expected back on the same day. Barcelona have nine days without club football, but the coach cannot use most of that period to prepare tactically with his first-choice squad.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It could also influence his team selection for next Saturday, with the German coach likely to prefer players who are more ready.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For now, the priority is for everyone to return without any more injury issues, and it remains to be seen how things play out this week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Hansi Flick will begin preparations for Barcelona\u2019s return to club football with an unusually small group.
