{"id":872781,"date":"2026-10-06T12:52:17","date_gmt":"2026-10-06T12:52:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/872781\/"},"modified":"2026-10-06T12:52:17","modified_gmt":"2026-10-06T12:52:17","slug":"marcus-davenport-asks-for-release-after-12-snaps-with-bears-and-then-retires","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/872781\/","title":{"rendered":"Marcus Davenport asks for release after 12 snaps with Bears \u2014 and then retires"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Marcus Davenport played 12 snaps against the Jets on Sunday and a day later he\u2019s out of a job.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CourtneyRCronin\/status\/2107245306362421575\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Bears released the defensive end from the practice squad<\/a> at his own behest, according to ESPN\u2019s Courtney Cronin, opting to retire at the age of 30.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter logging 12 snaps on defense against the Jets, Bears DT Marcus Davenport has been released from the practice squad, a move that was done at the player\u2019s request,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CourtneyRCronin\/status\/2107245306362421575\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Cronin wrote on X.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Bears signed Davenport in the offseason, but he wasn\u2019t a part of the team\u2019s 53-man roster.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:0.66699219;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"   data-modal-image=\"41157984\" width=\"394\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/GettyImages-2297097104.jpg\" alt=\"Marcus Davenport before the Bears-Eagles game on Sept. 28, 2026. \" class=\"wp-image-41157984\"\/>Marcus Davenport before the Bears-Eagles game on Sept. 28, 2026.
