Titled The Outside Expands, the triennial will feature 36 artists and collectives representing 34 nations, making it the most internationally focused edition to date. A complete list of participants is included at the end of this article. <\/p>\n<p>New Museum Curator Vivian Crockett co-organized The Outside Expands with Isabella Rjeille, a curator at Museu de Arte de S\u00e3o Paulo Assis Chateaubriand (MASP) in Brazil. The pair was inspired by \u201cX Galeria (X Gallery)\u201d (1979), an urban intervention staged by the Brazilian collective 3N\u00d3S3 during the United States-backed civil-military dictatorship that gripped the nation for over 20 years. <\/p>\n<p>Members of the collective duct-taped large X&#8217;s on the entrances of various galleries in S\u00e3o Paulo, and accompanied them with the following message: \u201cO que est\u00e1 dentro fica, o que est\u00e1 fora se expande\u201d (\u201cWhat is inside remains, what is outside expands\u201d).
