\n\tJustin Timberlake<\/a> has responded to a viral video roasting his early-2000s beatboxing habit with an apology of sorts: \u201cToo many boots. Too many cats.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe \u201cRock Your Body\u201d singer jumped into the comments of an Instagram video from creator Hannah Young, who joked that Timberlake\u2019s tendency to break into beatboxing during his *NSYNC and early solo years somehow went largely unquestioned at the time.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe don\u2019t talk about Justin Timberlake beatboxing enough,\u201d Young said in the clip. \u201cBecause there was a moment in time where that man would be in the middle of a song and just boots and cats and boots and cats.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShe continued, \u201cNobody questioned it. Nobody said, \u2018Justin, you know? We have drums. This is a professional recording studio. There are instruments available to you.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAnd we liked it,\u201d she added. \u201cThat\u2019s what I need us to sit with.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tTimberlake clearly appreciated the joke.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI often look back on that time as well,\u201d he wrote in the comments. \u201cI still haven\u2019t come up with any answers. I don\u2019t know how to apologize enough for whatever those ambitions were. Too many boots. Too many cats. I hope you can forgive me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe then added one important caveat: \u201cAlso, I can\u2019t promise I won\u2019t do it again. God help us all.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe singer famously showcased his skills on *NSYNC\u2019s 2001 track \u201cPop\u201d, though, beatboxing wasn\u2019t just an onstage party trick. The technique was woven into some of the music that helped establish his solo career after *NSYNC.<\/p>\n

\n\tHe previously recalled on Hot Ones that Timbaland beatboxed the foundation of \u201cCry Me a River\u201d before the two began building the track in the studio.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe crazy thing about \u2018Cry Me a River\u2019 was he beat-boxed it first,\u201d Timberlake said. \u201cI came into the studio and I was like less than thrilled and I think he saw my mood and he just started, like, [beat-boxing].\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cFour hours later it was, like, written and recorded and then we started working on post-production,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\n\tReleased on Timberlake\u2019s 2002 debut solo album, Justified, \u201cCry Me a River\u201d became one of his early signature hits and helped establish the sound that would carry into his blockbuster follow-up, FutureSex\/LoveSounds.<\/p>\n

\n\tThat album celebrated its 20th anniversary in September, with Timberlake reflecting on the era as \u201clife changing.\u201d It produced three Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles \u2014 \u201cSexyBack,\u201d \u201cMy Love\u201d with T.I. and \u201cWhat Goes Around\u2026Comes Around.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAcross his solo career, Timberlake has earned 39 Billboard Hot 100 entries, 19 top 10 hits and five No. 1s.
