Ben Affleck got candid about how the heartbreaking deaths<\/a> of his parents led him to re-evaluate what matters most to him.<\/p>\n

The \u201cGone Girl\u201d star recalled losing his dad, Timothy, and mom, Chris, two months apart in April and June of this year, respectively.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a big year of life,\u201d he told GQ <\/a>in an interview published Tuesday, explaining that he\u2019s been forced to reflect on his childhood and how he was raised.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s a lot, man,\u201d Ben, 54, continued. \u201cYou appreciate your parents in different ways, and you think about your own mortality and your own life and your own children and what you want to do with it.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd the bare fact of the very fleeting nature of all of our lives kind of stares you back in the face,\u201d the actor added, admitting he realized he only had \u201cso much time\u201d left and his \u201cyouthful illusions\u201d of believing he would have more \u201canswers\u201d and solutions to life as he got older had faded.<\/p>\n

\u201cOften the end of life isn\u2019t full of wisdom and resolve,\u201d he explained. \u201cStuff you haven\u2019t fixed in life stays unfixed.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cYou face that stuff and it makes you think, \u2018Okay, how do I want to spend the rest of this time?\u2019 Because you realize there\u2019s not all that much of it,\u201d Ben said. <\/p>\n

While the \u201cPearl Harbor\u201d star didn\u2019t elaborate on how he\u2019d like to prioritize his time, he recently shared his main priority was his three children<\/a>, Violet, 20, Seraphina, 17, and Sam, 14, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner.<\/a><\/p>\n

Ben went on to tenderly remember his mom, Chris, as \u201cpretty extraordinary and brave.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, she\u2019s an amazing woman and her death really did cause me to even more deeply and fully appreciate her and her life,\u201d he told the outlet. <\/p>\n

The \u201cGood Will Hunting\u201d star also labeled his parents as \u201clucky\u201d for living \u201clong lives \u2026 longer than one\u2019s expectation.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s kind of what you get,\u201d Ben said. \u201cI mean, my mom said to me at one point, \u2018I had a great life and I have no regrets, but I thought 83 years would feel like longer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Timothy died in April at the age of 76. However, the patriarch\u2019s death was kept under wraps until September, when Ben\u2019s brother, Casey, announced the passing <\/a>during the 2026 Venice International Film Festival.<\/p>\n

While discussing his movie \u201cCompany,\u201d the director told reporters, \u201cIt\u2019s dedicated to my parents because I lost both my mom and my dad this year, and they were very important to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Timothy\u2019s cause of death hasn\u2019t been revealed. As for Chris, she died in June<\/a> following a battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 83.<\/p>\n
