Anthropic boss Dario Amodei made $18 million last year \u2013 placing among the tech world\u2019s highest-paid executives ahead of the Claude chatbot maker\u2019s planned IPO later this year<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The curly-headed CEO\u2019s payday for 2025 was revealed in Anthropic\u2019s S-1 prospectus, a copy of which was obtained by Reuters<\/a>. The AI giant is expected to fetch a valuation of more than $2 trillion when it goes public, with Anthropic reportedly eyeing a Wall Street debut before Thanksgiving<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Amodei\u2019s $18 million placed him ahead of major tech figures like Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, who raked in $10.9 million in 2025, and Amazon\u2019s Andy Jassy, who earned $2.1 million, according to disclosures.<\/p>\n

The AI executive trailed behind rivals like Nvidia\u2019s Jensen Huang, who earned $35.5 million, and Oracle co-CEO Clayton Magouyrk, who took in a whopping $627.5 million.<\/p>\n

Dario Amodei and his sister Daniela Amodei<\/a>, both Anthropic cofounders, each earned $1.4 million in annual salary after it was doubled last July. Daniela Amodei earned a total of $16.4 million in 2025.<\/p>\n

The rest of their compensation came in the form of stock and options awards, according to Reuters. Both siblings are set to earn additional equity in the near future, to be received as long as they remain at Anthropic and the company goes public as planned.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Anthropic\u2019s chief financial officer Krishna Rao earned $720,250 last year. He received options to buy 1.4 million shares of Anthropic stock in 2024 and exercised options worth $385,285 last year.<\/p>\n

Dario Amodei\u2019s $18 million in compensation \u201cseems on the lower end for a company valued at $2 trillion,\u201d Courtney Yu, director of research for pay data firm Equilar, told Reuters.<\/p>\n

Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX, currently ranks as the world\u2019s richest individual with a personal net worth of $1.04 trillion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. His wealth exploded after SpaceX\u2019s IPO in June. REUTERS<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will be interesting to see how that changes once the company goes public,\u201d Yu added.<\/p>\n

Anthropic has a total of seven cofounder including Amodei. That could mean his on-paper wealth will appear smaller than expected after Anthropic\u2019s IPO, according to Yu, though it will still reach into the billions.<\/p>\n

Both Amodei siblings and their cofounders have said they will commit 80% of their personal Anthropic equity to support charitable causes. The company\u2019s S-1 prospectus did not detail how many shares they currently own or the value of those shares.<\/p>\n

Dario Amodei addressed his views toward charitable donations in a January essay titled \u201cThe Adolescence of Technology.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is sad to me that many wealthy individuals (especially in the tech industry) have recently adopted a cynical and nihilistic attitude that philanthropy is inevitably fraudulent or useless,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n
