Joe Manganiello claims that his ex-wife, Sof\u00eda Vergara, allegedly mistreated him when he was fighting a near-fatal autoimmune disease<\/a> during their marriage.<\/p>\n

In his upcoming memoir, \u201cBloodlines,\u201d<\/a> Manganiello writes about how Vergara \u201cridiculed\u201d him for his 5-pound dog named Bubbles, whom Manganiello adopted in 2019 when he was considering suicide, according to People\u2019s excepts<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had to give my gun away because I kept thinking about it, and then the dog came,\u201d the \u201cTrue Blood\u201d actor says. \u201cI went from being the patient to the caretaker.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joe Manganiello claims in his new memoir, \u201cBloodlines,\u201d that ex-wife Sofia Vergara \u201cridiculed\u201d him for for his 5-pound dog that he adopted in 2019 when he was considering suicide and fighting a near-fatal autoimmune disease during their marriage. sofiavergara\/Instagram<\/p>\n

Additionally, the \u201cMagic Mike\u201d star says that despite Vergara\u2019s claims that his desire to have kids caused their split<\/a>, since she \u201cdidn\u2019t want to be an old mom,\u201d he actually gave up that idea because of his illness.<\/p>\n

Manganiello explains that after failed IFV attempts, the pair began considering egg donors. But because of his health issues, Manganiello says he didn\u2019t want to die and leave his then-wife with a kid \u201cwho wasn\u2019t biologically hers.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were things said and printed about me that were false.\u201d<\/p>\n

Page Six has reached out to Vergara\u2019s rep for comment.<\/p>\n

In 2024, Vergara alleged that the former couple\u2019s disagreement about having a family together led to their divorce.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids, and I didn\u2019t want to be an old mom,\u201d\u00a0she said at the time<\/a>, adding, \u201cI feel it\u2019s not fair to the baby.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vergara \u2014 who shares son Manolo Gonzalez Vergara, 34, with her first husband, Joe Gonzalez \u2014 also admitted that having kids was \u201cnot for [her] anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n

In his interview with People, Manganiello said his health issues began shortly after his and Vergara\u2019s 2015 wedding<\/a>. <\/p>\n

His initial symptoms included excruciating abdominal pain that left him unable to walk, he recalled, as well as blistering rashes, headaches, fatigue and bleeding from his rectum.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was getting sicker and sicker,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Over the next seven years, Manganiello said he lost 60 pounds, underwent multiple colonoscopies, and had an emergency surgery in 2016 where part of his intestines were removed. That forced him to rely on an ostomy bag to go to the bathroom.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt happened to me, and it\u2019s the truth, and I have all the scars to prove it,\u201d Manganiello told the outlet. <\/p>\n

Manganiello said that after medicine kept failing him, he eventually got healthy by visiting a Santa Monica shaman, who insisted his generational trauma \u2014 including losing his ancestors to genocide in Armenia, and his grandmother\u2019s lupus battle \u2014 was to blame for his health issues.<\/p>\n

The \u201cSpider-Man\u201d star said he\u2019s now symptom-free and off medication after undergoing a follow-up surgery that reconnected his digestive tract.<\/p>\n

But more importantly, Manganiello said he\u2019s grateful for the support from his fianc\u00e9e, Caitlin O\u2019Connor,<\/a> revealing the couple are considering having kids together.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf that\u2019s meant for me,\u201d he shared. \u201cFor seven years I\u00a0thought I was going to be dead the next week. The world has opened back up to me.\u201d<\/p>\n
