A Florida man who has walked across America to raise mental health awareness has arrived in Maine to finish his journey.

Kyndal Ray Edwards started his journey in January 2022, walking from Jacksonville Beach, Florida, to Long Beach, Washington. He then made his way down to San Diego before walking from California back to Florida. Now, he is completing the last leg of his journey from the Florida Keys to the easternmost point in the continental United States.

Wednesday marked Day 1,006 of his journey as he walked from York to Kennebunk. Maine’s Total Coverage caught up with Edwards while he was in Ogunquit.

Edwards is walking to raise money for the nonprofit organization Never Alone Recovery, which helps individuals and families break free from addiction and mental health struggles.

“People have been stopping at meet and greets that I do at hotels and showing love and support. People have been offering food and just all kinds of stuff, and people have been sharing what mental health and recovery means to them, more importantly than anything,” Edwards said.

Edwards said he expects to finish his 12,000-mile cross-country trek in just a few weeks, aiming to reach West Quoddy Head Lighthouse in Lubec on Oct. 25.

OGUNQUIT, Maine — A Florida man who has walked across America to raise mental health awareness has arrived…

[60
368146,368148,368150,4672,368144,2808,132326,97,40923,368149,33497,10825,10482,14971,259,853,260,100356,3590,7461,77351,368147,6601,14972,368145
post-874571","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-mental-health","tag-12k-mile-journey","tag-alone-recovery","tag-continental-united-states","tag-edwards","tag-finish-in-lubec","tag-florida","tag-florida-man","tag-health","tag-journey","tag-kennebunk","tag-kyndal-ray-edwards","tag-love","tag-maine","tag-maines-total-coverage","tag-mental-health","tag-mental-health-awareness","tag-mentalhealth","tag-nonprofit-organization","tag-people","tag-support","tag-walk","tag-walk-across-america","tag-wednesday","tag-wmtw","tag-york-to-kennebec
["GET
