\n\tWim Wenders<\/a> has boarded \u201cTruth:Beauty,\u201d a feature documentary about legendary German fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh<\/a>, as executive producer.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe project, produced by Maja Hoffmann and Human Humans, will mark the feature directorial debut of French novelist Alexandra Matine, whose books include \u201cScopophilia\u201d and \u201cLa Pire Amie du monde.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMatine is also writing the film, which is being developed in partnership with the Peter Lindbergh Foundation, giving the filmmakers full access to the photographer\u2019s archives.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe announcement comes on the heels of the world premiere of Wenders\u2019 latest documentary, \u201cFrom Inside Out,\u201d at the Venice Film Festival. <\/p>\n

\n\tPrincipal photography on \u201cTruth:Beauty\u201d is expected to kick off before the end of the year. <\/p>\n

\n\tOne of the most influential fashion photographers of his generation, Lindbergh, who died in 2019 at the age of 74, helped usher in the era of the supermodel with his striking black-and-white portraits. Over a career spanning four decades, he became known for bringing a more natural and realistic approach to fashion photography, moving away from the heavily stylized images that had dominated the industry.<\/p>\n

\n\tWenders and Lindbergh, who belonged to the same generation of German artists, shared a friendship spanning several decades. Their work also influenced one another. Lindbergh\u2019s 1993 Harper\u2019s Bazaar editorial \u201cCity of Angels\u201d was directly inspired by Wenders\u2019 \u201cWings of Desire.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOne of Germany\u2019s most celebrated filmmakers, Wenders won the Palme d\u2019Or at Cannes for \u201cParis, Texas,\u201d the Golden Lion at Venice for \u201cThe State of Things,\u201d and the best director prize at Cannes for \u201cWings of Desire.\u201d He has also earned four Oscar nominations, including three in the documentary feature category for \u201cBuena Vista Social Club,\u201d \u201cPina\u201d and \u201cThe Salt of the Earth.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHoffmann, who serves as president of the Locarno Film Festival, has a track record of backing documentaries about major figures in the art world, notably \u201cMarina Abramovi\u0107: The Artist Is Present,\u201d \u201cPeggy Guggenheim: Art Addict\u201d and \u201cJean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child.\u201d<\/p>\n
