CBS and Tony Romo recently parted ways, which means that CBS wanted out and it negotiated a settlement<\/a> of Romo\u2019s remaining contract.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones addressed the latest developments regarding his former franchise quarterback.<\/p>\n

\u201cTony is one of the most valued relationships that I have<\/a> on a personal basis,\u201d Jones said in one of his twice-weekly appearances on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. \u201cI love him and I\u2019m sorry that he\u2019s \u2014 I\u2019m sorry this has evolved this way this year because I enjoyed him so much, in what he could bring to the NFL and, frankly, I was proud of him as a former Cowboy. <\/p>\n

\u201cNow, having said all of that, he\u2019s just getting started. He really is. And he\u2019s \u2014 I say that with all sincerity. He\u2019s just getting started. And he certainly has had some \u2014 made some mistakes. I can\u2019t look in my mirror without seeing what can happen when you the \u2014 experiencing mistakes. But he realizes that there\u2019s an area of his life that he wants to do better in. And that\u2019s been said ad nauseam publicly. He\u2019s got great opportunity ahead of him. I don\u2019t know of anyone \u2014 period \u2014 that has a better future than Tony Romo. And I\u2019m excited for him. He\u2019s not only got great talent but he\u2019s a hell of a man.\u201d<\/p>\n

Romo\u2019s next move remains to be seen. There aren\u2019t many top broadcasting jobs for NFL games, and they rarely come open for a reason.<\/p>\n

Most networks won\u2019t want to buy out the current deal of a No. 1 analyst in order to create a seat for Romo. Also, there\u2019s a question as to whether another network will be interested, given the incessant criticism that has happened during the latter years of his CBS tenure.<\/p>\n

Regardless, Romo is only 46. The OWI incident in Wisconsin will fade.
