Amazon’s October Prime Day sale is over, but some phone deals are still around. Though you may not find deals on the latest phones released this year, if you’re looking to upgrade to a midrange phone or one from previous release cycles (that are still excellent phones we recommend), you’re in the right place.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is our favorite Galaxy phone, due to its thin, light, and well-done foldable display. Though the Z Fold 8 lacks the pro-level camera system and privacy screen of the S26 Ultra, its AMOLED display and 4,800mAh battery make up for it. You can find the Galaxy Z Fold 8 with 256GB of internal storage for $1,650, though the 512GB configuration is also on sale for $1,850.

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is our pick for the best Android phone, and it’s easily the most complete phone in the S26 lineup. The S26 Ultra features a built-in privacy screen, which is ideal for people who don’t want others snooping on their texts and timelines. Additionally, the S26 Ultra is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor that helps run advanced Galaxy AI features. A 9.9-inch display, an advanced camera system, and a 5,000mAh battery make the S26 Ultra the complete flagship.

FAQs

When is October Prime Day?

Amazon’s Prime Big Deals Day sale, or October Prime Day, will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 6, through Wednesday, Oct. 7.

How did we choose these deals?

At ZDNET, we write about legitimately good deals on products we’ve tested, covered, and would recommend. All the options on this list were tested by our experts, and several received Editors’ Choice awards for high marks in performance, design, and innovation. If we don’t like a product or wouldn’t recommend it to our friends, families — or even a stranger — we don’t feature it on our site at all.

Is Prime Day a good time to buy phones?

Across device categories, prices have increased due to supply chain disruptions. However, increased demand for AI is placing significant strain on high-performance memory, making RAM more expensive. As a result, manufacturers have increased the MSRP of smartphones, so if you find a model you want that’s discounted, it’s a good idea to get it.

What are the best October Prime Day deals so far?

ZDNET editors will be tracking October Prime Day deals before, during, and after the sale. Here are our favorite deals across categories now:
