The outer bands are bringing strong, tropical storm-force winds.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmv1h5vkm000g356s63yj6bfx@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Those winds are coming in from the northeast, and with the rain, it\u2019s like getting slapped right in the face. It\u2019s just so strong.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmv1h5vkn000h356s2y9fwuc6@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            CNN meteorologist Brandon Miller says that this coastal community is getting 56-mile-per-hour wind gusts, and that\u2019s only going to get worse in the hours before landfall.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmv1h5vkn000i356sapyd02z9@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            For now, the winds are actually pushing the storm surge away from the coast.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmv1h5vkn000j356s4xaqexuy@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Miller also said that after the eyewall passes, there will be very little rain, but these tremendous winds will stick around, with 56-mile-per-hour gusts. This is enough to topple trees and cause major power outages, and this is why Gulf Shores is taking this so seriously.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmv1h5vkn000k356szickja86@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            They have instituted a curfew that\u2019s set to start in two hours. They definitely shut down the bridges leading in and out hours ago.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmv1h5vkn000l356su4b3nvnf@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            They don\u2019t want people out here in these conditions.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmv1h5vkn000m356sjx4dnhw2@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            I\u2019ve been in so many hurricanes, but probably not as close to where they\u2019re making landfall.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmv1h5vko000n356sa0qi637q@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The mayor was hoping people would take this seriously, and based on everything I\u2019ve seen, it\u2019s a ghost town out here. I think people have gotten the message. No more time for preparation.
