We are going to make sure that it is safe and usable for everyone,” Garbark said.

The initial supply will consist of 20% to 40% Susquehanna River water, impacting households in eastern Baltimore City, parts of Baltimore County and some homes in southwest Baltimore.

“This is something that is normal for our system. We’ve done it in the past. This is by no means the worst drought, but this is something that is going to be here if we don’t get any more rain. These pumps will run, and we’re going to be using this water,” Garbark said.

DPW officials say the water should look, smell, and taste the same as usual. The city is hoping for a wet winter to help replenish its reservoirs.

Residents are asked to continue conserving water. There is still a voluntary water restriction in effect, so customers are asked to limit water usage, which can include cutting back on watering lawns, taking shorter showers and repairing leaky faucets.

BALTIMORE — Baltimore City has started blending water from the Susquehanna River with its reservoir supply due to…

[2
14854,9097,40976,106414,4,450,29824,7053,12927,368838,25611,10071,194848,16457,368848,223571,368839,368845,15229,341526,240426,451,32481,193845,368832,368840,368842,368847,368831,368851,260034,368843,3,23476,24492,368846,14797,368841,59280,42688,52181,368834,368837,153672,240837,228502,368844,14521,54799,452,453,368835,277633,282,368833,368849,11141,368836,45397,368850,340474
post-876782","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-breaking-news","tag-area","tag-baltimore","tag-baltimore-city","tag-baltimore-county","tag-breaking-news","tag-breakingnews","tag-carroll-county","tag-city","tag-color","tag-color-difference","tag-customer","tag-department","tag-department-of-public-works","tag-director","tag-division-chief","tag-dpw","tag-dpw-datum","tag-dpw-director-matthew-garbank","tag-drought","tag-east-baltimore","tag-gallon","tag-headlines","tag-howard","tag-howard-county","tag-liberty-system","tag-loch-raven-reservoir-water","tag-low-water-level","tag-matthew-garbark","tag-montebello-water-plant","tag-montebello-water-treatment-plant","tag-most-resident","tag-new-change","tag-news","tag-october","tag-odor","tag-ongoing-drought","tag-part","tag-persistent-drought-condition","tag-public-works","tag-rainfall","tag-reservoir","tag-reservoir-conditions","tag-reservoir-supply","tag-reservoirs","tag-river-water","tag-susquehanna-river","tag-susquehanna-river-water","tag-system","tag-taste","tag-top-stories","tag-topstories","tag-treated-water","tag-voluntary-water-restrictions","tag-water","tag-water-blend","tag-water-facility","tag-water-quality","tag-water-reservoir","tag-water-supply","tag-water-treatment-engineer-supervisor","tag-west-baltimore
["GET
