(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox10tv.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">WALA<\/a>) &#8211; The Okaloosa Board of County Commissioners has announced on its Facebook page when the SS United States will be deployed to become an artificial reef.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Here is the post: <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The SS United States is one step closer to becoming the World\u2019s Largest Artificial Reef. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The vessel will be deployed in the Gulf about 22 NM southwest of Destin-Fort Walton Beach, the second week of November 2026. This activity is weather-dependent and dates may change.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners is working with our safety and security partners for a safe and efficient deployment. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">This is an exciting move forward to create a one-of-a-kind resource for the environment and for our tourism industry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">More details on the deployment will be released in the coming weeks. <\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WALA.
