Even seven years after its debut, the attraction’s popularity shows little sign of slowing down. Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure continues to attract lengthy queues, regularly exceeding two hours during busy periods. In fact, according to Queue Times, the attraction averaged a 110-minute wait in 2025.

That’s what makes it such a big deal that Universal randomly shuttered the ride yesterday.

Universal Closes Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure

Parkgoers hoping to ride Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure were left disappointed on October 9.

According to Universal Orlando Resort guests, the attraction did not open with the rest of Islands of Adventure. Instead, a notice was erected outside the ride’s entrance, explaining that it would be opening late for the day.

Sign advising guests that Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure will be opening late today.

Sign advising guests that Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure will be opening late today. @UniversalORL pic.twitter.com/PLpQY9Wc7m

— Inside Universal (@insideuniversal) October 9, 2026

It’s not totally clear why the attraction opened late. However, by the time Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure eventually reopened, its wait time reportedly hit two hours almost immediately.

This follows a period of relative calm for the attraction since it axed its Express Pass offering in July.

When Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure opened in 2019, it did so without Universal Express access. As Inside the Magic previously reported, the coaster already regularly attracted multi-hour standby waits due to its popularity and limited capacity. However, the subsequent addition of an Express queue made matters worse for standby guests, with those paying extra able to bypass the lengthy lines.

It’s not totally uncommon for the attraction to open later than the rest of the park, experiencing the occasional technical hiccup (as is often the case for more complicated theme park attractions, à la Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance).

Fortunately, when Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure is closed, there’s plenty left to enjoy in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. That includes Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, which takes guests on a chaotic adventure through Hogwarts Castle (which recently received a divisive repaint), and Flight of the Hippogriff, a family-friendly coaster offering views of Hogsmeade.

!["Hagrid's]("https://www.newsbeep.com/us/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/Untitled-design-7-copy.jpg")
