Despite veering slightly right with his drive, the Offaly man’s 227-yard approach was a beautiful effort, allowing him drain a putt from 14 feet for an eagle.<\/p>\n
Lowry added birdies at the sixth and ninth for his best front nine of the tournament.<\/p>\n
More controlled iron work at the 12th saw the 2019 Open winner roll in from four feet for another birdie, though this was given back at the 16th, where a slashed drive was compounded by overshooting the green.<\/p>\n
He finished however with a flourish, a superb drive giving the outside opportunity of an eagle, before settling for a birdie.<\/p>\n
It meant his best round of the tournament to date, a four-under 67 to sit on -5 and a tie for 13th, seven shots off joint-leaders Forrest and Dean.<\/p>\n
Forrest began the day with a one-shot advantage, but slipped down the leaderboard after bogeying the fifth hole.<\/p>\n
However, birdies at the 11th, 14th and 16th gave the Scot a four-under-par round of 67 and a total of 13 under.<\/p>\n
Forrest, who is searching for his third DP World Tour title, said on europeantour.com: “I’m happy with how I handled today.<\/p>\n
“I didn\u2019t have my best stuff but I\u2019m really proud of how I dug in and made some nice putts, a couple of good recovery shots, and all in all a decent score again.<\/p>\n
“This is one of my favourite tournaments, it\u2019s been good to me in the past, and I\u2019d love nothing more than to go home with a trophy tomorrow.”<\/p>\n
His round was enough to leave him tied for the lead alongside Sheffield\u2019s Dean, who will feel he should have produced an even better outcome than the 65 he signed for.<\/p>\n
Dean followed five birdies on the front nine with three more at the 12th, 14th and 15th to open up a three-shot lead.<\/p>\n
But the 32-year-old then double-bogeyed the 16th and dropped another shot at 17 before finishing on a high with a 31-foot putt for birdie on the last.<\/p>\n
“It gave a little bit of hope after those previous two holes,” said Dean. “We\u2019ll go again and see what happens.”<\/p>\n
Tom McKibbin missed the cut on Friday.<\/p>\n
