Mariusz Komenda, best known for appearing on \u201cMasterChef Poland,\u201d has died<\/a>. He was 44.<\/p>\n

The chef, who reached the semifinals of the show\u2019s eighth season in 2019, died Wednesday, months after being diagnosed with a brain tumor.<\/p>\n

TVN, the network that airs \u201cMasterChef Poland,\u201d confirmed Komenda\u2019s death in a social media statement, according to People<\/a>, which cited Polish media outlets.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with great sadness that we received the news of Mariusz Komenda\u2019s death,\u201d the statement read. \u201cMariusz was part of the \u2018MasterChef\u2019 family. We will remember him as a man full of passion, energy, and a love for cooking.\u201d<\/p>\n

The creators of \u201cMasterChef\u201d also paid tribute to Komenda in a similar statement, echoing TVN\u2019s remarks that he was \u201cpart of the \u2018MasterChef\u2019 family\u201d and would be remembered as a man full of \u201cpassion, energy, and a love for cooking,\u201d according to People.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s difficult to find words to express our grief,\u201d the statement continued. \u201cWe share in his grief with his family, loved ones and everyone who had the opportunity to know him. Mariusz, we will miss you very much.\u201d<\/p>\n

Komenda shared details of his diagnosis<\/a> in March on a fundraising page<\/a> linked to his Instagram account<\/a>, revealing that he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in early January after being hospitalized with a \u201csuspected stroke.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought it was just a temporary crisis. Unfortunately, the reality turned out to be far grimmer,\u201d he wrote in a statement translated from Polish. \u201cFrom that moment on, the hardest fight of my life began.\u201d<\/p>\n

In March, Komenda revealed on a fundraising page linked to his Instagram account that he had been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in early January and had undergone multiple surgeries. zrzutka<\/p>\n

Toward the end of January, Komenda was admitted to a hospital in Warsaw, where he underwent multiple \u201curgent, life-saving\u201d surgeries, including one to remove the tumor in his right thalamus and another to remove a section of his skill to \u201crelieve pressure and give [him] a chance to keep fighting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Subsequent tests revealed additional cancerous lesions in his body, and Komenda said he was \u201cundergoing neurorehabilitation\u201d in hopes of regaining his \u201cphysical function.\u201d<\/p>\n

He explained that he created the fundraising page to help cover the costs of his treatment and recovery, which he said were \u201cenormous and, unfortunately, beyond my means.\u201d<\/p>\n
